14/10/2011 37.5cl bottle @ John’s place (2011-447)

Clear rust red brown to bordeaux beer, no head. Aroma: dusty, some disinfectant, attic, bit sour. MF: no carbon, light body, watery texture. Taste: vinous, slightly sour, sharp bitter dryness, bitter grape skin. Aftertaste: bitter grape pits and grape skin, some tobacco, still gives a watery impression. As we tasted this with other bottles from Hanssens, maybe our palate was influenced, but it was pretty hard to detect the fruitiness in this one.

In bottiglia al Verzekering Tegen De Grote Dorst; credevo fosse una bottiglia vintage a giudicare dal sapore acetico e dalla polvere, invece aveva solamente un anno. Non male però

Draft. I had to remind myself that this was a lambic and not a straight fruit beer which accounts for the sourness. Super tart with acetic acid notes. Very funky but also very raspberry-y (no clue what a currant is supposed to taste like).

Bottle ---> Tulip. Pours a hazy red with little to no carbonation visible. Smells like a bunch of things... old grapes, sterilizing solution and a faint scent of wet wood. The taste is a rush of sour cranberries and grapes with high acidity. Finishes bitter and dry like lemongrass. By far the funkiest brew I’ve come across.

This poured a bright red color with no head. The aroma is a bit off putting like someone baked a fresh cherry pie with some currants and then farted loudly after having eggs for breakfast. The flavor is sour with cherries and currants. Overall this was ok despite the smell of it.

Man, this is sour. I mean, really sour. So sour that you can’t really taste any fruit, just a lot of sour. sour. soo sour.

Sample at a tasting at Suttree’s. Pours bright purplish color with almost no head. The aroma is black currant, polyurethane, garlic, musty cheese, and farts (not the farmy funk; quite enteric and abrasive). The flavor is dry and fruity with a musty note and ample lactic sourness. Fortunately the flavor lacks the enteric quality that the nose does. A little bit of a let down.

Pours the color of cherry wine, no head. Stinky socks and underware funk is the aroma if it smells like anything. It tastes ok. Light vinegar with sour fruit like cherry. But the lingering cheesey flavor is there. Light mouthfeel with a wetness that is strangely fitting for this foot like concoction.
