Bottle, 375ml corked. A reddish orange beer, quite clear, and with a little rim of off-white bubbles for head. Sourish, vinegarish aroma with a good dash of berries, although more reminiscent of raspberries than black currants. Some cellar hints. The flavor is citrusy-sour, with berries dominating, finishing lemony and berry-sour. Dry, medium bodied and puckering. A quite lovely one, even for me who don’t care much for black currants. 110204

Bottle at Eulogy. Pours a shiny straw color. Aroma is sharp of acetone with plenty of lemon. The flavor is 65% funk and barnyard, 35% mouth-puckering tart peach, lemon, and raspberry. Sharp acidic bite with an awesome funky dryness. Slightly syrupy body. Overall, wonderful.

Small white head. Hazy deep purple body. Deep earthy funky blackberry aroma with barnyard notes. Dryish rounded deep earthy fruity taste is simple and short. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dry raisiny watery port aftertaste with raisiny waxy notes. Loong aftertaste. Really unusual, and highly drinkable. (Taster at the brewery.)

Koelschtrinker (6544) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - MAY 21, 2011
/11/12/12//12

Pours bright ruby into a tumbler. Pink head with little retention recedes to hug rim. Sour black currant aromas. Soft and tart with currant front to back and lasting bitter ground seed finish.

This cassis on lambik smells nice! Taste is less fine, a bit flat at the end. Had it one the tour the geuze (may 2011)

The pour reveals a cloudy dark red color with almost no head. The aroma is what I expect from a Hanssens fruit lambic, lots of funk reminiscent of manure, and a good dose of fruits. While I like the aroma a lot, the flavor is kind of a let down, the funk is milder than what I expect from a Hanssens, it’s not very acidic also, the fruit is there though. The body is light with a moderately dusty texture and low carbonation. Overall, it’s a good fruit lambic, but it doesn’t have the caliber of Hanssens’ more widely known lambics such as the Oude Kriek and Oude Gueuze.

Pours a dark red color. Not much in the way of carbination. Has a cherry, black current, and a slight vinagar smell. Taste is about the same. Not horrible but not great either.
