3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a deep murky ruby purple color with a trace of pink foam that rims out around the glass. Nose is musky grape skin, berry sweetness, dusty funk and wet wood. The palate is a bit heavy on the acid... bordering on acetic but still hiding some firm berry notes, funky tannic fruit skin and old wood complexity.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a murky purple from the bottle with no real head or lacing, no real carbonation. Aroma is awesome barnyard funk with sour and sweet dark fruit notes. Taste is more sour than funky, but amazing all around. Definitely a very well done lambic, just lacks all carbonation.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle: thanks, Kevin! Deep red & blood orange tinted body with absolutely no head! Just a few stray bubbles that rise to the top... Looks like a still mead. Despite the lack of head, the color is lovely. Aroma is loaded with musty, moldy cork notes, dust, subtle "berry" fruits (not explicitly "currant") with an overture of vinegar & acetic acid. The taste is lightly tart up front, not as sour as the gueuze or kriek, that’s for sure. I get heavier reminders of raspberry (or "berry" in general) & lemon more than I get currant. Acidic & vinegar forward with a mild lactic burn as it hits your stomach. Sourness grows in the finish, still not reaching the levels of Hanssen’s other offerings. Somewhat dry, really flat mouth feel - needs some bubbles, here! It’s not bad, but it would benefit from a more prominent fruit character & some actual carbonation. The Oud Kriek blows this out of the water (& it’s cheaper)!

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a vibrant strawberry color with essentially no head. Very funky and weird smell. Very clean refreshing taste upfront. Vinegar and tart flavors on the back of the tongue. Puckering at the end with a dry finish. Very soft and smooth feel. Very drinkable.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
375mL bottle, pours an opaque pink-tinted ruby red with just some bubbles as head - usual flat carbonation for Hanssens. Aroma is hugely funky, with notes of barnyard, loads of black currants, and horse blanket. Flavour is hugely funky as well, with loads of barnyard funk, horse blanket, and pungent black currants at the same time. Extremely complex stuff and wonderfully blended. The funk is so lovely on this and almost overtakes the fruit, despite the fruit being very prominent as well. Wonderful stuff from Hanssens here.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle (375 ml). Thanks to cparles for this one! Hazy pinkish-red with a small quickly disappearing white head and no lacing. Aroma is of berries, herbal notes, phenolic presence, acetic and wood. Taste is more acetic and less fruity than aroma with herbal notes and wood. Light to medium body. Low carbonation. Slightly vinous mouthfeel. Not very complex, nor really drinkable. I thought it would be fruitier (especially the taste). Decent, but far from the best of the style.
