37.5ml Bottle - Bierkoning Amsterdam Aroma: Oaky, fruity, funk. Pours very flat. At first I was a bit underwhelmed by this. It really misses a bit of bubbles. But as it warms up there are a lot of complex flavors. The cassis is there, under an oaky load of bacterial funk. Not bad, but I had expected more especially given the high price (7.95 Euro per bottle in a store.).

September 27, 2014. Bottled march, 2014. Pours deep dark red with no head. Aroma is funky with barnyard, leather, manure notes, oak and black currants. Taste is light sweet fruity, medium tart fruity, funky and barnyard. Dry tart fruity finish. Light bodied and light to medium carbonation. A bit too heavy manure aroma to be great.

Had on tap at 28 Springs thanks to Casey. Pours a pinkish hue with a very thin quickly dissipating pinkish white head. Aroma is sour fruit and dirty diaper funkiness. Wonderful. Very tart and funky. Sharp fruitiness. Very nice beer. Had with the Cuban fried steak. Good choice all around. I hear that Casey got two cases of this. Make your way to 28!

04.10.2014, 0,375l bottle shared with friends:
No head, just some bubbles. Lovely deep red color. Aroma is slightly dry fruity, berry skin, oak, dry sour cherries, grass, unripe black currants, sorrel. Taste is dry fruity, berry skin, hay, overripe crowberries, dry cherries, oak, minerals, hints of black currants. Medium bitterness, very dry mouthfeel. Nice, but it’s more in the direction of cherry than black currants, and very little sourness.

Bouteille. De Molen Shop. Robe pourpre intense et huileuse. Nez profond de chene, teinté de cassis. En bouche c’est doux, acidulé et agréablement marqué par le fut. Belle finale légerement astringente et bien fruitée.

From bottle. Very nice funky lambic nose, acidic and Bretty. Black currant and raspberry notes, vinous. Ruby red clear with no head. Medium body with very light carbonation, almost still. Starts and stays tart, acidic. Bretty-tart fruit character, currant and blackberries. Funky sour finish with funky after. Nice fruit lambic with slight touch of oak.

37.5 cL bottle at home. Pours murky red with a ring pink head. Aroma has some barn, berries, red fruits, wood and forest fruits. Taste has a really nice balance between sourness and fruitiness with some berries, red fruits, tartness, some wood and a slightly dry finish. Medium body and light to medium carbo. Nice stuff.

@ Eddan 14-8-30: en fanatisk bärdoft kombinerat med en mycket syrlig smak som den bundar i en trevlig söt bärig eftersmak. Gott. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone ---- Soberness not garanteed!

Bottle from bieresgourmet.be webshop. Pours an opaque deep purple body with no head, looking like a muddy black currant juice of sorts. Aroma is lemon, citric peel, horse blanket, fresh and present blackcurrant tones and hints of hay, mild burnt rubber and something reminiscent of wet moss. Taste is mild citric tones, black currants, lemon juice, orange zest, horse blanket and hints of burnt rubber and Chevre-style goat cheese in the back. Full body, no carbonation to speak of. I like it, but the freshness in the aroma doesn’t quite follow through. And as with the experimental raspberry version of this series, a bit of carbonation really wouldn’t hurt. Still a fair enough fruit-juice-style-lambic with some originality at play.
