This unique, refreshing beer appetizer is the result of amalgamating fresh strawberries with lambic during summer.

Pours a golden honey with no head, similar to a mead / cyser in appearance. Moldy strawberries on the nose, perhaps some ammonia and bitter fruit pits as well? Tart, musky, vinous, woody, lactic. A summertime golden shower precluding a kinky, psychedelic trip with Mother Nature. Not for the faint or prude of heart.

Bottle: Hazy, light copper, no head and no bead or lacing. Very dull, aged, bacterial nose. Stale urine almost. Just the slightest hint of fruit if you imagine it. Very dry and sour with no bitterness. Searing acidity but reasonably clean. finishes just a bit soapy. Amazing acid. Good length. Hard to call it a fruit beer but it is like drinking old world white wine. Rustic. Quenching. It does build on you.

Bottle to snifter. Has no head at all. No carbonation. Smells sour with sweet strawberries. Tastes like strawberries with sour after taste. Absolutely delicious besides the lack of carbonation.

Saurer, leicht fruchtiger Antrunk, rein. Die Säure nimmt deutlich zu, wird aber nie unangenehm, vollmundig. Das Bier bleibt dann auf diesem Level, mild säuerlicher Abgang mit weiterhin milden Fruchtnoten. Gut! 8/12/12/13/12/13

C&C 750 mL bottle from Wine Warehouse, 2006 vintage, opened 11/2/13. Pours a hazy amber color with not much of a head. Aroma of heavy funk, earth, pepper, stone fruits, berries. The taste is strawberries dominating an earthy and funky finish along with some citrus. Medium bodied, low carbonation, lingering tart fruits. Overall quite nice.

Bottle pours a hazy yellow gold with no fizz. The aroma is a mustard vinegar that settles into a strawberry marmalade. The flavor started a very quirky Brett funk and slightly off fermented strawberries but does have a grainy musty Belgian pilsner like flavor under it. No carbonation hardly it serves to stand in it’s own. Not to special, not altogether a loss, but definitely strange brew.

Bottle (375 ml). Thanks to Randall for this one! Slightly hazy straw color with no head and no lacing. Aroma is of intense strawberries (jam), acetic notes, light funk and wood. Taste is also of intense strawberry jam along acetic presence and wood notes. Light to medium body. Low to moderate carbonation. Dry finish. The strawberry aroma/taste is so present, it’s impressive (especially if there’s no artificial flavor used). The beer is not particularly complex though, but still quite enjoyable and drinkable.
