COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As with all Gueuzes, Hanssens is a mixture of several vintages to produce a lambic which is refreshingly fruity.

This is the result of blending different lambics of different ages. The second fermentation takes place inside the bottles and therefore they are stored for minimum six months in constant temperature kept cellars.

Bottle from liquor express - why do I keep buying gueuze, I don’t like the tartness, though I get why others enjoy it. Anyway, pours an effervesiant clear orange. Aroma is summer and tropical fruits, ie fruit cocktail. Taste is medium sour and tart. Palate is dry. Overall, solid.

Caged and corked 750mL bottle that has a year or two of shelf age on it, pours with a gold body that has a bit of a haze to and supports a dirty white head. The aroma offers up typical Gueuze sort of soft lime, tarter notes and then thin spicy oak, a bit of soured sort of vinegar and some sweetened lime at the end of the draw. The taste is tart and near puckering with soured sweetened vinegar and lime flowing into some thin spicy oakiness. This produces pleasing depth and refreshment somehow at the same time. Solid.

37,5cl bottle. BBE 07/08/2034. Pours almost clear light copper/amber color with a thin white head. Aroma is inviting with dried apricots, barnyard notes, slightly acidic, tart. Flavor has green apples, tartness, white grapes and hint of apricots. Mouthdrying. Long finish with green apples. A very tasty gueuze.

Donkergeel van kleur en zeer zuur van smaak en geur. Weinig schuim. Doet denken aan appel cider. Misschien wel té zuur voor mijn smaak. Waarschijnlijk lekkerder op een bloedheet terras.

Bottle from Beltramo’s in Menlo Park, CA. Aroma is funky fruits, citrus, strawberries, vitamin C, ammonia. Taste is citric acid, cheese and wine, rotten fruits. More of an herbal / medicinal note than I don’t care for as much but still great.

(375ml bottle from Systembolaget) Pours hazed pale orange short lived active bubbles and no head. Aroma on the sour side for the style but lactic, with lemon juice and fresh cheese. Quite oaky quality that is a touch leathery, with earth and hay barnyard and an almost nutty note, funk and wood blending. A little white grape, not too fruity. On the palate, moderate lactic sourness with lemon and cottage cheese/yoghurt, white grape on the edge of vinegar. Lemon peel/wet hay hop bitterness from the middle on, some prominent must and oak. Bretty funk does build in the finish but more restrained than nose. Aftertaste is quite dry, lightly tart with the softest of bitter notes. Medium oily body with average carb. A nice lactic gueuze, but quite balanced. Not mind blowing but refreshing and very drinkable.

Bottle from Tanakaya. Pours an orange gold color with very little head that dissipates instantly. Aromas of apple cider vinegar, lemon zest, and hay. Light body with a slightly watery texture. Soft carbonation with a sour finish that really is bitterly sour at the end. Nice geuze for a hot summer day.
