COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As with all Gueuzes, Hanssens is a mixture of several vintages to produce a lambic which is refreshingly fruity.

This is the result of blending different lambics of different ages. The second fermentation takes place inside the bottles and therefore they are stored for minimum six months in constant temperature kept cellars.

UPDATED: MAR 26, 2005 Hazy orange-amber colour with white head. Clean lambic aroma is mainly leathery, with just a hint of cheesiness. Very tart palate, aggressive, some stank feet, apple, lots of leather and a fair amount of barrel character. Body is spritzy, moderate. Finish is leathery, with a woody dryness and a kiss of sweetness right at the end.

Pale, not much head. Fresh yeasty sourish aroma with grapefruit. Grapefruit in the flavor as well, sourish and sour. Good body and a classy geuze even if I still have to learn alittle about this kind of beer...

A: The usual cloudy, sparkling, yellow-gold liquid with a bit of white foam on top that dissipates somewhat quickly. S: You can tell this one is going to be great just from the nose. Tart lemon and lactic acid, along with a nice musty and earthy quality. T: This one starts off with a tongue buckling sourness to it. Wonderful lemon and green apple flavors, in terms of the fruit. There is a slight bit of oak and a dry funkiness. M: Very effervescent and medium in body with that wonderful dryness. D: There’s only so much of this stuff you can drink before it burns a hole in your stomach, but even then, I’d probably keep drinking it. One of the better Gueuzes I’ve had, and at the price, you can’t beat it.

Saures, tonangebendes Aroma, dabei fruchtig-spritzig, der saure Ton bleibt bestehen. Es wirkt sehr abgerundet und wird noch saurer, daneben etwas würzig. Komplexes, aber ausgewogenes Bier. Test vom 30.5.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 11,13,12,13,8,13 - 12,40

375 ml bottle. Aroma is about equal funk and light stone fruit. Copper gold color with white smear for head. Medium body with fizzy/creamy carbonation. Flavor is sour fruit, yeast and wood. Finish is astringently dry. Tart isn’t in it! One of the more pleasant Geuzes I’ve enjoyed.

UPDATED: JAN 15, 2006 (1-14-06, 1.5L bottle) Did not take notes, but no question I enjoyed this a heck of a lot more than 3.7 -- rating adjusted upward accordingly.

(2-8-04, 1.5L bottle) Cloudy golden with small off-white head. Aroma is barnyard vinegar, light gym socks. Taste is vinegar, fruity -- not overly sour. Finishes acidic sour, vinegar. Light-medium body. (7/4/8/3/15)
