4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 hirigalzkar (1319) - ENSKEDE, - JUN 23, 2009
Bottle (2000 - 9 years old). Ap: Golden amber. No head. Looks funky. Ar: Sweet actually, some kind of sour bitterness (vineager maybe). Fla: Sour red berries. Incredible fruity. No real tartness in the finish, some kind of bitterness though. Ov: Quite sophisticated. Not as funky as one would think (maybe due to the ageing).
3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 NordicV (288) - 21213, SWEDEN - JAN 22, 2012

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 hazewee (10) - Andenne, BELGIUM - JAN 17, 2012
Beautiful golden color. Nose is discreet. Taste is highly citric. Not much other favors/sensations to offer than bone dry acidity. Not such a fan of this type of Gueuze. Too radical for me.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 Gription79 (595) - Bountiful, Utah, USA - DEC 21, 2011
375 ml bottle. Poured with minimal carbonation. Great funky aroma, tons of earthy notes. Lemon/citrus dominates the palate. Earthy/barnyard notes are plentiful but this gueuze is citrus/tart forward. Very enjoyable.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 _angst_ (510) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - DEC 13, 2011
375 ml bottle bough @ Bierkompass.de and consumed on December 13. Pours hazy golden with a small creamy white head that slowly dissipates. Smell is sour with leather, dust, farmyard, grapefruit, lemon, lemon zest, raisins and pipe tobacco. Taste is sour and tart with lemon juice, apples, leather, metal, earth, hay, grass, wood and green grapes. Finish is dry and sour.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 lithy (2911) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 10, 2011
Clear almost amber golden body with lively carbonation and a whitish foam that dies quickly. Aroma is a dull acidity, hay. Taste is a puckering sourness, but not outwardly acidic, earthy, hay and grass. It isn’t mindblowing sour but it is enjoyable.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 oobawa (549) - South Carolina, USA - DEC 4, 2011
The weirdness of gueuze always intrigues me. What the hell is this stuff? Its like champagne made out of beer. I know, there’’s all sorts of wild bacteria and open fermentation and blah-de-blah-de-blah, but that does little to explain the sourdough bread meets lemon juice flavor that permeates Hanssens Oude Gueze. And, while it is good, I find it a little too breadlike and earthy, to the point where the tartness takes an odd muddy turn. Still, a good gueuze, if a bit much for one man to handle.
