As with all Gueuzes, Hanssens is a mixture of several vintages to produce a lambic which is refreshingly fruity.

This is the result of blending different lambics of different ages. The second fermentation takes place inside the bottles and therefore they are stored for minimum six months in constant temperature kept cellars.

Bottle from "Completely Non-Epic Gueze Tasting ’10". Poured a hazy orange-yellow with little head. Aroma was overwhelmingly funky with wet grass, lemon and cheese. Deliciously sour with hints of orange/lemon zest, and a very dry finish. Carbonation complements the flavor wonderfully.

37,5 cl bottle. Hazy orange with a thin head. Classic aroma, funky barnyard, sour apples, vinegar. Taste is dry and moderately sour. Thin body, very soft carbonation. A light gueuze.

Orange/clear amber with a white ring of foam. Tart aroma with ripe pears, green apples, hay, grass, very fresh and crisp. Taste is dry, light woody with green apples and the white part of citrus fruit peel, whatever that’s called. Light body and carbonation, dry.

For the price, the taste is too light/faint. Aroma is really good though.

Pours a rather pale amber to orange body with a very small, white, short-lived head that doesn’t leave any lacing. Looks like a fruit juice... Rather strong aroma of funk, vinegar, apple cider vinegar and and sour fruits. The vinegar is very much present in the strong and funky flavour as well, a little bit too present for my taste. Also sweet and sour fruits, fermented apples and apple cider vinegar. Hints of fermented red berries. Moderate sour taste, traces of sweetness, long finish. Quite light body, dry and with a moderate carbonation. Interesting brew, but too focused on the vinegar.

Bottle @ home. Pours with an amber colour, small diminishing white head. Aroma is quite acidic, even for a gueuze; rich in floral and fruity notes, elegant; only slight basement aromas, quite faint. Taste is medium sweet, medium sour, very well balanced, pleasant. Light body, watery texture, average carbonation.

Thuis. Zure hooiige paardestal. Sinaasappel, aardbeizuur en zachte basilicum, kruidnagel en kaneelachtige smaken volgen als je aan ’t zuur went. Backlog from 2015/06/30.

375ml Bottle. Hanssens Oude Geuze 6% A beautiful orange gold pour with a fizzy head & a great tart nose of fruits(lemon, plum, strawberry), a bit bready (muffin like but faint) which ends in a peppery oak funk. Full bodied and effervescent, it’s got a refreshing dry finish. The taste is tart lemon, grape seed, oak, vanilla, nutty and ascerbic. Mouth puckering goodness, I can totally imagine a laborer pounding this pack on a hot sunny day. Great stuff.
