BlackDonald (1127), Boise, Idaho, USA May 11, 2008 Beautiful sour cherry nose, slightly over tart, a bit chalky and highly acidic though. Good, but lacking greatness, slightly one-dimensional. chimplechamp (463), Oslo, Norway May 5, 2008 bottle thanks to tom at the paisley beer fest 08- nose is shellfish, some seafood kind of thing going on, vinegar, and such,. tastes balsimic vinegar sour, very sour, sour milk. a bit too acidic for my liking. ironchefscott (341), portland, Oregon, USA May 2, 2008 Nice cherry on the nose....fairly mild funk on the nose....great balance of tartness and sweetness....lacking a bit of the complexity of a great kreik....but darn good nonetheless....also more carbonation on the mouthfeel than normal...but not a bad thing mjs (1446), Helsinki, Finland Apr 21, 2008 (From old notes, bottle (750 ml) at Pikkulintu on 2008-01-11) A bit acidic at the beginning and the acidiness increases as the beer gets warmer. Cherry in taste and nose. A good lambic. Unfortunately, I haven’t written down the vintage or BBE date, tytoanderso (1382), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA Apr 20, 2008 375 ml bottle. No indication of age on either the cork or label. Excellent blend of sweet/tart cherries and acidic, bretty, footy, rubber funk. Pours a still, dark copper with no carbonation or head. Smoked wood, charred rubber, sour cherry skin and a touch of spice on the tongue. Not overly acidic, but a a fair amount of funk and lacto tartness. Oily body with just the smallest hint of carbonation on the finish. xmarcnolanx (789), Kirkwood, Missouri, USA Apr 9, 2008 2001 bottle from John’s Grocery. Thanks Pepsican.
Taste is sweet and very sour tart cherry. Aroma is sweet cherry, some garbage, barnyard, cherry sourness.
Back to taste: Acidic, lactic cherry with some more garbage and sweetness.
Soo good. daniele (1644), Italy Apr 8, 2008 rossa schiuma quasi inesistente frizzantezza minima aromi aciduli liuevemnte fruttati legnosi in bocca piuttosto morbida acida finale di ciliegia lieve legno Ibrew2or3 (2714), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Apr 5, 2008 Two bottles of the 1994 vintage courtesy of dpflanzer, wow, thanks again David. Pours still with hazy amber body. The aroma is full and complex and tough to describe. I seem to be getting smooth cherry fruitiness, earthiness, sugared lemon wedge tartness and rotting wood. The taste begins with a shiv of tartness followed up by blended and smoothed over cherry fruitiness that becomes earthy, wet cement, herbal and vegetable. Very nice experience. Again huge thanks to David for holding on to these for well over a decade and sharing with us.
