Hanssens Oude Kriek

Clear tawny-orange body and very minimal head. Musty aroma, leather, and fruity. Very dry tart flavor with the hint of red berry fruitiness cutting in half the acidity. Delicious, although this is really destroying my stomach lining...

Bottled. Hazy red-golden. Fruity and sour aroma; harsh raspberries and cherries. Dry and wooden flavour with sweet notes of berries. Acidic.

Bottle. Beautiful ruby amber colour, no head. Fruity and cidery with clear woddy notes, and some spices. Light to medium bodied, soft carbonation. Very refreshing with a light sweetness that mixes well with a firm acidity.

The color was medium brown with red hues. It was nicely carbonated. The head was thin, white, and fizzy. The aroma was yeast, cherry, and sour/tart. The flavor was very sour, cherry, tart, earthy, and aged fruit. The palate was thin bodied. The finish was tart and earthy.

Bottle @ 16th Weekend of Spontaneous Fermentation 2007, Opstal. Unclear light yellow red color with a small fair lacing off-white head. Aroma is vntage, sour / sweet cherry’s. Flavor is moderate sweet and acidic with a average to long duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is flat.

Bottle sampled. Pours red/bronze with a thin pink head. Aroma of fermented cherries, dusty malts, and sour notes. The flavor is acidic, sweet upfront, tart cherries in the finish.

Pours a reddish brown with a thin almost non-existent head. The aroma was sour, tart, definitely cherry. Bretty smell. The flavor is also tart cherry, sour oakey taste. Delicious. The palate was fairly carbonated, but not as much as something like Lindeman’s. Had it at a tasting with a group of people who hadn’t been exposed to good beer. The verdict was thumbs up.
