This is the result of blending black cherries lambic of different ages followed by a second fermentation in the bottle. Storage is similar like geuze. All bottles are champagne corked and can be reserved, in normal conditions, for more than thirty years. It is obvious that an amazing taste evolution takes place.

Bottle shared by madbeerbaron...thanks Ben! - Pours ruby red with no head. Nose is really sour, with tart dark cherries and SweetTarts. Taste is real dark cherry, SweetTarts, with a nice fruity tart, full finish. A bit of vinegar. Slick and medium-bodied.

Bottles on several occasions (taken from notes). Pours red ruby to red brown amberish, Mostly no head. Aroma of tart cherries and almonds (cherry stones). Very sour and tart palate but with a quite qilky finish. Taste is citrussy and tart forest fruits. Definite like and imo underestimated.

Bottle shared by Matt, pours a dark red with a thin head, the aroma has a good amount of vinegar and funkiness mixed in with the fruit, the flavor has a tart front end with some of the fruit showing in the finish, there was a little bit of skunk showing through as well, not as flavorful as the intense, but still enjoyable.

Bottle (75cl): going to take me a long while to get used to this style. As a winemaker this has almost everything I try to avoid. I suspect this is what the style should look like so Ive taken it easy in my scoring. Red brown color. Cloudy and no head. There is a light spritz. Aromatics take the cake. Volatile, slightly mould, must, old oak. Maybe a hint of decomposing fruit. Dry, extremely sour and no bitterness. Medium light palate. Long acid finish. Mousey and dirty. Very old world. Technically this is faulty and crap. Ill come back and score again when I have more experience. For the moment it hurts to give this score.

This is one of the best krieks Ive had but I think more age would do it well. There is some complexity but acidity is dominant and drowns out subtle aspects to some degree. Ive had krieks up to 19 years old and this seems like it is a candidate for some considerable aging. Im not as interested to drink it now.

Bottle from Ohtsuki. Red copper coloured and with not much head or sparkle. Aroma is very funky and sour, vinegar, cherries in the background, but dominated by mustiness and sourness. Maybe even a bit sweaty! Taste is lovely. Initial sour punch and then slowly fades and merges with the sharp cherry taste. Slightly floral too. Pretty interesting. Soft in the mouth, with not much carbonation, but very smooth. Great stuff.
