heemer77 (4294), Savannah, Missouri, USA Jan 10, 2005 Updated: Jul 2, 2005From a 750 mL bottle. Dark cloudy red coloring. A relatively large white head. Pleasant aroma of vinegar, apples, lemons and barnyard. The taste is mouth puckering at first with lemon juice. Then it also has notes of balsamic vinegar and some salt in the finish. There are also some hints of cherries and tart apples. A dry woody and leathery finish. This is solid and ranks as a great example of the style. Silphium (2114), Haslett, Michigan, USA Jan 9, 2005 Hazy deep orange body, thin off-white head. Aroma heavy on oak and barnyard mustiness with hints of cherries and the ubiquitous brie cheese rind. Woody, nicely sour body with barnyard musts, molds, cheese rind and sour cherries contributing to the overall funk. The sourness really hits the nose but isn’t as excessive as it is in Cantillon’s lambics. The emphasis seems to be on the wood flavors. Nicely complex and quite tasty. MiP (8793), Sønderborg, Denmark Dec 19, 2004 Bottle. Sour aroma. Very slight hint of cherry. Nice red and a little cloudy colour, small white head. Acidic flavour with a little cherry. Acidity cuts my throat a bit. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 18, 2004 Thanks to npdempse for this. Nice ruby, headless pour with huge cherry aroma along with slight grapes, horse pussy, and sour ass. Tastes krieky, but too tart for my tastes. When I eat a Bing or Montmorency or other cherry, I get more sugar in the taste than this. Where did all the sugar go? A little too tart here, but nonetheless, a very good kriek, just not my first or second choice. rickgordon (3285), Göteborg, Sweden Dec 8, 2004 Bottled, best before 2018.
Copper colour. Fruity with vague cherry notes, and dry-ish. Woody, bubble-gum, cognac finish.
rlgk (3377), Vårgårda, Sweden Dec 5, 2004 Quite pale red, almost no head. Sour cherry aroma with some yeast. Nice sourish/sour cherry flavor, yeasty notes and with a more fruity finish. MrRomero (1934), Nolanville, Texas, USA Nov 30, 2004 Poured a reddish/brown with a small head. Musty, sour/sweet, vinegar aroma. Sweet flavor up front with a sour finish. Light cherry aroma and taste. Very good. IndianaRed (1553), Boise, Idaho, USA Oct 24, 2004 Bottle poures a very hazy dull redish brown. No head or lacing. The aroma is that combination of tart cherries and old musty notes. It’s a good thing that I know these are supposed to smell like this. Flavor is a very tart acidic cherry/apple flavor. So this is "horseblanket"...OK. Now I know. The strong acidic flavor takes some getting used to..the feel is like fruit juice witha very soft carbonation. After taste is an almost stinging bit form the very low PH. ( I wonder if anyone has tested it) and the sour musty lingering note. Apparently this is a "true" Lambic as opposed tothe much sweeter Lindemans, which I like better. Live and learn...on my journey to beer geekdom
