Commercial Description:
This is the result of blending black cherries lambic of different ages followed by a second fermentation in the bottle. Storage is similar like geuze. All bottles are champagne corked and can be reserved, in normal conditions, for more than thirty years. It is obvious that an amazing taste evolution takes place.

Pours a raspberry red with a quickly fading fizzy head. Aroma of barnyard, cherries, flowers and woodiness. Flavor notes of brett/funk, sour cherries, wood, saltiness, vinegar and a tart fruity acidic zing. Light bodied with soft carbonation. Dry finish. Enjoyable.

Bottle from New Beer. Arouma is funky, earthy leaves with some fruity notes. Taste of cherries, tart and acetic. Pretty light red/pink color. Finishes with some puckering. Not bad.

Hazy pink with a small white head. Very acidic and puckering - it really stings the nose. Clean cherry aromas, earth and grass. Lots of funk in the smell - barnyard and mud. The taste is very sour, but still manageable. In fact, I really like the stuff. There is also a surprisingly noticeable sweetness. Lots of clean cherry flavors and notes of grass, earth and cherry pits. The finish is tart and dry with residual notes of cherries and cherry pits. Medium body, refreshing carbonation. A good one. Lots of acidity, not for the faint of heart. --- NOTE: A quick note about a bottle that had been cellared only for about 6 months (usually they are cellared at least 12 months at the brewery before being released): Both aromas and flavors are more gentle and slightly edgier than older bottles. The cherries are more pronounced and almost have a candy-like character. It’s less acidic and less funky. It has more sweetness to it, due to the bigger cherry flavors. I preferred the older bottle since it was more complex, more sour and all in all more interesting. Serving type: bottle (Copy of old Beer Advocate review)

Super sour. Cherry is moderately strong. Not at all harsh. Some nice woody funk.

Pretty cranberry color in a champagne flute. Very sour with cherries on the nose. Definite cherry taste with a puckering finish.

375 mL bottle from Market Street Wine Shop & Grocery, Downtown, Charlottesville, VA. Pours a slightly hazy strawberry color, or should I say cherry? Medium cream off-white head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma is tart cherries, an earthy funkiness, berries and citrus. Taste is tart cherry pie filling, slight herbal notes, raspberries and strawberries, citrus. Very tart throughout with a bit of residual sugary sweetness. Medium bodied. Tasty.

375ml bottle. Pours red with small head that disappears fast. Nose is tart, quite vinous and sour cherries. A bit too vinous for my taste (I can’t stand Rodenbach). Taste is vinous and sour. It gets much less vinous at the end. Start would be 3.4, end would be 3.7. Intensely sour, mouth puckering. I’m a bit disappointed about this one. Not for me.
