Ungstrup (14758), Frederiksberg, Denmark Mar 2, 2004 The aroma is sweet cherries with notes of wood. The color is a clear red-brown and it has next to no head. The flavor is very acidic with slight notes of cherries, metal, and wood. The end is very acidic and the mouthfeel is very dry. Papsoe (14642), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 27, 2005 (Bottle 37,5 cl) Simply called "Hanssens Kriek" at 5% ABV. No label on the bottle. The fruit flies had found this beer before me - hundreds of them were buzzing around the slightly leaky bottles in the drinks shop- They for sure liked this beer.
Reddish brown and very flat. Extremely sour, vinegary nose making your nostrils contract almost completely. The cherries do however leave a slight hint of sweetness on your tongue. Quite an exceptional experience, but one I could’ve done without. 110700
(Bottle 37,5 cl) As "Hanssens Oude Kriek". I reckon this in principle is the same beer as the above, but not a bit stronger - and with a label.
More red than brown, small head with a pinkisk tint. Even some carbonation. Still a very sour Kriek, but not quite as extreme as the old version. 110700 omhper (12155), Stockholm, Sweden Jan 30, 2004 Bottled. Pale red. Nutty sweetish cherry aroma. Clean mouthfeel, less lively and sparkling than their regular gueuze. Woody and ashy, with some sweetness to balance the heavy acidity. A good kriek, no doubt, but lacks something to make it really great. yespr (11649), Copenhagen O, Denmark Jun 9, 2008 37.5 cL bottle, trade with BelJohansen. Pours hazy to murky pink to red with a lacing off-white head. Dry sulphorish cherry aroma. Solid dry acidic flavour with a lot of citric impressions following. Nice fruity cherry flavour throughout. Goes into a dry, slight wooden and quite citric cherry finish. Nicely thirst quencing. fonefan (10868), VestJylland, Denmark Jun 5, 2007 Bottle @ 16th Weekend of Spontaneous Fermentation 2007, Opstal. Unclear light yellow red color with a small fair lacing off-white head. Aroma is vntage, sour / sweet cherry’s. Flavor is moderate sweet and acidic with a average to long duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is flat. oh6gdx (8802), Vasa, Finland Oct 4, 2005 Bottled. Deep red colour with small brownish hints. Small head. Cherry in aroma, kind of bitterish. Dry bitter cherry in flavour. A bit alcohol in flavour too, very dry aftertaste. MiP (8793), Sønderborg, Denmark Dec 19, 2004 Bottle. Sour aroma. Very slight hint of cherry. Nice red and a little cloudy colour, small white head. Acidic flavour with a little cherry. Acidity cuts my throat a bit. joergen (8430), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 22, 2005 Bottled.
