This is the result of blending black cherries lambic of different ages followed by a second fermentation in the bottle. Storage is similar like geuze. All bottles are champagne corked and can be reserved, in normal conditions, for more than thirty years. It is obvious that an amazing taste evolution takes place.

True to the style.. Tart red fruit, tart raspberries, tart cherries and a puckering, mouthwatering, vinegary finish. Not much wood interplay, if any... Just a transparent, sour, tart, red fruit profile... RRBC Supplication comes to mind.. Although not the same.. This honestly has a touch brighter fruit and less barrel influence in comparison. Super sour, refreshing finish. No complaints. I love sours!!! --- tasted while on a long journey to understand the world around me...

Bottle from notes. Pours a nice ruby red color with a small creamy pink hued head. The aroma has sour cherries, barnyard funk, wet wood, lemon citrus, herbs, and a hint of yogurt. The flavor has sour cherries, oak, tannic notes, lemon, lactic acid, yogurt, and vinegar. Sour cherries linger with a hint of vanilla sweetness.

375 ml bottle bought from Systembolaget. Dark red color with small beige head that quickly disappears. Funky and sour aroma of tart cherries, barnyard notes, wood. Taste is light sweet, tart fruity acidic. Light to medium body, almost oily, soft carbonation with nice bitter spicy fruity aftertaste.

Sweeter fruitiness than 3 Fonteinen. Lovely dark cherry-ruby color with a small pink-red foam. A bit of spices in the aroma, complex tartness, sweet-sour cherries. Great taste. A good Kriek!

$11.55 for the 375ml bottle, bottled in January 2014. It pours a murky dark red, reddish head of foam, reddish lacing. I can sure smell the sour cherries and oak. Delightful. Sour cherries and the woody oak in the taste with some hints of vanilla, I find a near perfect level of sourness. If I want a tad more, I simply swish the beer in my mouth. I reckon some time in a cellar could do even more for this brew. About medium bodied, light carbonation. This is very good indeed.

Fresh 37,5cl bottle bb08/2032, slightly aged (3-6mths) bottles on earlier occasions. gorgeous deep ruby with pink head, vibrant with decent natural carbonation. Spiced nose of mulled wine, cinnemon and winter kitchen rack over red wine in a box, cherry pit with bitter almond characteristics. Taste is spicier than manynother krieks as well, with again that mulled/cinnemon aspect distracting from the natural cherry skin tartness. Odd chloric, decongealed thaw water notes mix in with flowery perfumes, wild moist pastures after Belgian rainpours. Some cherry balsamico, upfront lactic sourness remains manageable. All in all rather unfocussed when fresh, improves considerably in aging, while remaining always easy and quenching drinking.

Bottle from etregourmet.be webshop. Pours a hazy pink body with a small white head. Nose is strong horseblanket and stable tones, hay, straw, lemon acid, cherries, hints of grains and wood. Taste is cherries, hay, lemon, citric peel, horse blanket, hints of wood and straw. Medium body, medium high carbonation. Very nicely balanced, yet both funky and tart kriek. Lovely stuff.

Oude kriek with thin, off-white head and deep brownish red colour, hazy. Very funky aroma, lots of horseblanket, flowers, sherry, wet hay and obviously sour cherries. Sour onset, bit vinegar-like, lots of fresh sour cherries, funky, complex, woody and refreshing with a meaty hint of horse steak. An earthy and different example of its style, but I’m sure its funkiness will not be to anyone’s liking, not even those in favour of the style.
