Commercial Description:
This is the result of blending black cherries lambic of different ages followed by a second fermentation in the bottle. Storage is similar like geuze. All bottles are champagne corked and can be reserved, in normal conditions, for more than thirty years. It is obvious that an amazing taste evolution takes place.

Bottle (375ml). My 1100th rating - still two months to my one-year RateBeer anniversary! Poured a beautiful apricot-ruby with virtually no head. Aroma - oh my God that’s wonderful - sour citrus, yeast, wet wool, a hint of burnt rubber, wet aged cedar firewood, *maybe* a hint of cherry - it’s certainly sour. Taste - sour lemon, sour cherry, yeast, white wine vinegar - this is flat yet still somewhat lively, sticky, heavily acidic - almost pleasant and juicy compared to some of the extreme lambics I’ve tried (hello Girardin Black Label) but very drinkable, fruity without being sweet - it seems sort of sweet in the aftertaste, but it’s all about the juicy funk and sourness when you’re drinking it. Pleasant.

Beer #300. Thanks again, Sergio. Aroma of fresh, tart cherries. Appearance is red and ruddy with white head. Flavor is refreshing cherry, with a nice sour finish. Palate is lively. A delicious Kriek.

In a very roundabout way this is the beer that introduced me to RateBeer. Pours a hazy reddish orange wit a good head that leaves some lace. The aroma is barnyard with some sour cherry, wet hay and some band aid. The flavor is really damned complex remarkably tart and very sour with some old oakiness, some vinegar, lots of sour cherry and some nuttiness with a bit of garbage-y off flavor. The beer is very dry and has a nice champagne fizziness. This is pretty good stuff.

( 750ml bottle) pours opaque cherry red, nice white ring of bubbles and great lacing. Nose of wet oak barrel, tart cherries, quite a bit of funk in a good way, and other tart berries. As it warms a very unpleasant smell of sulfur emerges. Taste of unsweet tart cherries, red wine vinous notes, black olive saltiness. Not liking that aspect. Finish is perfectly carbonated but the saltiness gets in the way. Good but not great.

Bottle from Olive Tree Market. Pours a lightly hazed auburn color with a small sea foam white head. Big nose of tart cherries and hamper funk. The finish held some sweet and salty qualities. A great Kriek for the price.

Ruby color, pink head, like cherry soda. The nose is very sour, vinegar, very light fruit. The flavor follows, mainly sour, tart, vinegar, earth. Very sour on the finish as well. Not much cherry comes through. Enjoyable sour.

Ruby red with a little pink halo. Aroma-sour cherries and woody funkiness. Taste- great sour cherry and earthy, woody funkiness. Medium bodied and a very sour, acidic finish.

Garnet-blood pour with a vivacious pink head that forms a nice half finger veneer. After a few seconds, it dissipates into a ring with a spotty inside froth. The aroma is sour black cherries up front with lots of oak and funk following closely behind. The farmy barnyard aromas are present, but subtle in the face of the distinct tart cherry arrangement. Acetic acid is present only in the slightest. The flavor is quite rude but extremely well put together. Sour cherry prevails, with a bracing acidity and funk to follow. Oaken tannic acid is minimal but noticeable, providing a pleasant palate saturating pucker along side the wild yeast funk and cherries. The palate is pillowy in its effervescence with a slippery body and bone dry finish. Everything a good kriek should be.

Pours a mildly murky orange red with virtually no head. Nose is very tart, fruity, tart cherries, hints of vinegar. Taste is great, fairly dry, nice tart cherry, moderate sourness, slight graininess, nice sour flavor.
