4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 wedgie9 (1590) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - OCT 12, 2011
Tasted from a corked and caged 375mL bottle at Delilah’s Lambic Fest 2011. Pours cloudy ruby with an average pink head that recedes quickly to a thin collar of lace. The nose is sour lemon with tons of funky cherry, light vanilla, and earthy, animalistic barnyard. The flavor is very tart and acidic with tons of funky, earthy cherry, vanilla oak, a hint of baking spices, and barnyard funk. The body is medium and somewhat sticky, with a hint of bubbly carbonation, and a long sour lemon, funky cherry, and drying tannic finish.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 thewolf (9849) - Kolding, DENMARK - OCT 10, 2011
Bottle. [thanks Bu11seye]
Pours hazy dark red with no head. Aroma has sweet cherries, light marzipan, some funk. Rather fat. Low, almost flat carbonation, fine light oily palate. Flavour is that amazingly fat Schaerbeekse cherry, low tartness at first, some slight burning vinegar, mild marzipan. As it warms, the tartness feels more at home and gets more fruity. Not a touch on 3 Fonteinen, but still lovely.

500mL Bottle. Thanks for sharing James! Nice blend of funk and dank cherries. Tangy fresh flavor.
Still. Way on the cherry juice size. No carbonation. Hardly any
lambic character, just a bit in the finish. Bummer. Nothing to get excited about here, unfortunately.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 after4ever (5279) - Brier, Washington, USA - SEP 14, 2011
375, corked and baled. Pours a deep burgundy, totally still, no head or lace. Big tart nose, deep rich berryness of cherries showing--acidic and bright, not a pie cherry essence at all. Deep puckery tang. Watery lightish still body. Bright acidic puckery tang of cherryness on the mid palate as well. With some bubbles and some body, this would be quite a stunner. As it stands, it’s a fair bit less interesting than it might be.

bottle. big thanks to phaleslu for this! aroma huge, complex juicy black cherry, dusted with light cocoa, and a pleasant creamy yogurt acid. taste is bright heavy acidic cherry pits, lemons, slightest hint of cherry sweetness. wet oak. quite woody. flat. missed the carbonation at first, but really didn’t miss it after the first few sips. pleasant leathery, cowhide funk rounds things out. great. awesome fruit character. i’m a fan.

Pours a hazy, bright, deep red with absolutely no head. The beer is dead flat. Probably an 8/10 on the pucker scale. It’s nice and sour. The aroma is mostly sour cherries mixed with a decent dose of barnyard funk. It’s not a super complex aroma, but I like it. Taste is big sour cherries. Tried this right before NG Raspberry Tart, and I’ll take the Scarenbecca over that, any day of the week. This is a very nice sour cherry lambic, and I’d love to try it against 3F’s, some time.
