4.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Sampled as Schaerbeekse kriekenlambic which I got confirmed is the same as this one. Bottled pure, no lambic added when bottling in order to carbonate because this would destroy the fruity flavours which explains the other Hanssens bottled fruit beers. Pours an incredible, deep ruby red with no head. Nose is intense pure, real kriek, like holding a plate in your hands, lots of pits as well, light herbs, nicely natural fruit tart,… amazing. Taste Is utterly incredible, pure kriek, taste, light Christmas herbs, lots of red wine & oodles of pits, red wine and strong tartness follow in the finish, quite sour and tart and nice added smidgon of acid. Completely flat, absolutely incredible – this should be sold in Belgium.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: MAY 31, 2014 Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy red color with zero head no matter how much swirling I did. The aroma is mildly tart, cherries, wood, with some vinous character. The flavor is really missing the carbonation. Cherry, wood, tart, easy to drink. The flavor is decent, but would be better with carbonation. At this price it should be better.
Had another bottle recently and the carbonation was better.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle shared with Sean and Janine. Pours opaque maroon-brown with no head and no lace. Aroma of musty ripe tart cherry, musty dry red wine, sour lemon, and ripe raspberry. Taste is lemon, raspberry, and hearty cherries. Palate is loose and thin until the sticky, tart, dank finish. Very good and very sour.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12.7oz bottle, split with brew3crew and alexsdad06. Pours a nice clear dark red color. Couple bubbles, no head or lace. Lightly tart nose, some cherry in there. Medium to bigger body. Very light carbonation. Moderate sour taste, and sweet in the finish. Not as puckering as, say, the Bruery Sour in the Rye I had earlier this evening. Without the intense sourness that I was expecting, the natural cherry flavor is allowed to shine a bit more, which is nice. Sticky viscosity in the finish. Nearly no carbonation, but still a tasty kriek. Great natural cherry flavor. $20 was steep, though -- would have passed if I wasn’t able to split the cost

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12.7 oz corked and caged green bottle. I see no vintage; the price tag on it says it came in to Enoteca in April of 2012, so it’s probably a 2011 vintage, but who knows? Pours cloudy ruby-red with a quickly-collapsing pink-white head; leaves a ring of big-bubbly foam. Aroma consists of cherries, cherry pits/almonds; nice-smelling, although not quite as assertive as the Cantillon I drank before this. Taste is much more sour and acidic than the Cantillon; lots of cherry flavor. Carbonation is almost flat, finishes dry. Overall, I liked the Cantillon better; it was better in every category, from aroma to palate, but the carbonation was the real clincher--the lack of bubbles made this one especially inferior to my tastes. Still, this is not bad at all--I probably would’ve rated it higher had I not just drank the Cantillon before this.
