Bottle purchased at Blacklick Wine & Spirits and opened at the 3rd Annual Sour Town tasting on 5/26/12. Red pour with a thin off-white head. Super sour nose (as is typical with Hanssens) with lots of sour cherry and a slight sweet note. Cherry flavor with lots of spicy and vinegary sourness. Very dry finish with not much carbonation.

poured into a stemmed drie fonteinen glass, pours a deep ruby red. quite dark with hints of pink in the light. no head what so ever. deep ripe fresh cherry. very light dry oak. not very complex but very nice cherry. again, deep ripe cherry. very fresh tasting. barely sour up front with only a light sourness through the finish on the back of the tongue. very soft oak. dead flat over all. it takes away from the flavor IMO. good overall but NOT worth the $20 price tag.

Pours clear red with almost no head. Aroma has notes of sour cherries. Taste is light sour and light to medium sour and light sweet. Body is medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.

Bottle at Sour Fest, poured a nice red color, aromas of light sour cherries, light oak, and a touch of vanilla. Flavors are tart cherries up front with some dry oak in the back, nice beer overall, not over the top tart either.

Bottled. An unclear red beer with a rim of off-white head. The aroma has notes of almonds, brett, and cherries. The flavor is acidic with notes of cherries, almonds, wood, and brettanomyces, leading to a tart and woody finish.

Bottle from Frank Smith’s. Pours a lovely shade of magenta, with no head. Nose is lactic aciidic tart cherries, earthy. Tastes of tart cherry, very little carbonation, earthy, with dusty yeasty cherry, and a lactic sweetness as it warms. Not tart to a Cantillon level, and almost achieves a dry cabernet flavor profile.

375, corked and baled. Pours a deep burgundy, totally still, no head or lace. Big tart nose, deep rich berryness of cherries showing--acidic and bright, not a pie cherry essence at all. Deep puckery tang. Watery lightish still body. Bright acidic puckery tang of cherryness on the mid palate as well. With some bubbles and some body, this would be quite a stunner. As it stands, it’s a fair bit less interesting than it might be.

bottle purchased from west lakevirew.... pours a ruddy, mostly non-transparent, medium to darker pink tint with no head to speak of... aroma is slightly woody, sour cherries, and mild acidic note... flavors are continuation of the same, somewhat bracingly sour with a big cherry acidic component. puckering and sour but without any carbonation to give it that extra level of complexity. cherry and wood mingle but take a backseat to the level of sourness.
