3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12.7 oz corked and caged green bottle. I see no vintage; the price tag on it says it came in to Enoteca in April of 2012, so it’s probably a 2011 vintage, but who knows? Pours cloudy ruby-red with a quickly-collapsing pink-white head; leaves a ring of big-bubbly foam. Aroma consists of cherries, cherry pits/almonds; nice-smelling, although not quite as assertive as the Cantillon I drank before this. Taste is much more sour and acidic than the Cantillon; lots of cherry flavor. Carbonation is almost flat, finishes dry. Overall, I liked the Cantillon better; it was better in every category, from aroma to palate, but the carbonation was the real clincher--the lack of bubbles made this one especially inferior to my tastes. Still, this is not bad at all--I probably would’ve rated it higher had I not just drank the Cantillon before this.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
No bottling date I can find.
Appearance: This pours a beautiful garnet to purple hue with no carbonation shown. It looks like a Cabernet Sauvignon to me. Very nice color.
Aroma: The aroma has a big airy dryness I find hard to explain, it smells like fresh air at times while smelling cherry juice. Interesting, very enjoyable.
Taste: Big cherry acidity throughout with a dry and lingering finish. The way this tastes is similar to how I view cranberry juice, sweet quick intro with a progressively tart flavor and a dry finish that lingers of light tartness. Well done.
Palate: Flat, like cold juice.
Overall: This is pricey as heck, but it’s a solid beer. I would recommend it, but I feel that it should be a result of running out of new sours in your area. This is too pricey compared to other great sours in my distribution.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle (375 ml). Thanks to Randall for this one! Deep burgundy with no head and no lacing. Aroma is of cherries (a lot), red wine, wood, barnyard, acetic notes (less than the others Hanssen) and light cheesy notes. Taste is moderately sweet (from the fruit, not cloying) with a lot of cherries, wood, red wine, nice barnyard touch and acetic notes. Light to medium body. Low carbonation. Winey mouthfeel. Dry finish. Very good fruit-forward Kriek. Not as complex as the Schaerbeekse from 3 Fonteinen, but the cherries are shining in this one and the lambic give them a perfect support.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
bottle shared by tom10101, thanks bro. pours cloudy dark red without a head, no lacing. cherry piths, red grapes with their skin, spices, vinous character, light acetic and nice acidic profile - completed by citric/lactic notes, nice barnyard (perhaps hanssens’ most barnyardy of their fruit lambics). low carbonation, light body - oily, tart and fruity-grassy-spicy finish. very nice!

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a nice burgundy with no head. Aroma is really nice with fresh cherries meat, acid and funky/cheesy notes. Taste is of sweet cherries, tart but not puckering. Body is light, mouthfeel juicy/vinous. There were no rough (acetic) edges in this one, really nice. By far the best Hanssens of the night, I’d pick that one up from time to time.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle sample at a sour tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks zvikar. Beautiful deep red to purple color with no head. Lovely aroma of cherries, oak, leather, lemon, vinegar notes and a bit of barnyard. Sour flavor, funky, oaky, with cherries and a lemony finish, puckering and astringent, with a light acidic burn in the throat. Lovely.
