Sample at SBWF 2010. Vertical tasting of 2009 and 2006 vintages. 2006 vintage: Unclear amber with no lasting head. Heavy aroas of mainly dried fruits and fudge. Not as sweet as the aroma suggests. Very well-aged and would probably hold up a couple of years more. 2009 vintage: Having had the 2006 vintage before this, it’s very clear this is still too young and has at least a year or two left to become good. Sweet and boozy, lacking complexity and integrity. Scores for 2009: Ar 7, Ap 4, Ta 6, Pa 3, Ov 12

Nisse666 (4808) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - SEP 23, 2010
Bottle from SB, cons 2010-09-23, Göteborg, 2007 year edition! AR: a bit like old stock, vinos, pruns, chocolate, rasins, very round and a bit oaky. The nice aroma i still there after being poured. AP: dark ruby body, creme caramell coloured froty head F: a bit to obevious strong, but very nice flavours of caramel, scottish toffee, vinos, pruns, chocolate, rasins fruity and a bit dry finish. I guess it needs a couple of more years of storing to get a rounder flavour and more appeling taste. Oily consistence.

BoBoChamp (5758) - Gent, BELGIUM - AUG 2, 2010
33cl, Swedish brewery, from Slijterij van Bergen Eindhoven, complex brew, not too heavy, balanced, hazy, good head, good brew, yet very expensive!

JorisPPattyn (8335) - Ursel, BELGIUM - MAY 27, 2010
Light gushing to medium, dense yellow-cream head, not very stable over ruby-brown beer; clear burt for the very last of the bottle. Rich malty nose, with alcohol and something lactic, sweet spices and mild hops. Rich taste, alcoholic and cakey, with hops blending seamlessly in. If anything, more meaty than lactic in the mouth. Very good balance. Quite rich velvety MF, and feels more carbonated than it looks. Long warming aftertaste with alcohol-preserved orangequarts. Dangerously drinkable little bottle, dangerously likeable little nobleman, both very expensive...

gyllenbock (5666) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - MAY 20, 2010
Bottle. Hazy brownish with a small slightly tan head. Malt, malt, malt! Yes it was very malty both in the aroma and taste. The aroma also contained syrup, dried dark berries, raisins and caramel. The taste was sweet but not sugary, sticky, thick mouth feel. Aftertaste was long and contained some alcohol. A good Swedish Barley Wine

thewolf (11384) - Kolding, DENMARK - MAY 18, 2010
Bottle @ Nya Tröls, Malmö.
Pours clear ruby red with a small, creamy, yellowish head. Arom ahas lots of malts, a light oxidation, caramel and fruity, light resiny hops. Low carbonation, fat oily mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet, very malty, caramel, softly vinious, light raisins and light plums. Toasted and warming aftertaste. Nice and very well-balanced.

tderoeck (5850) - Gent, BELGIUM - MAY 14, 2010
Pours a clear amber to reddish. Almost no head. Smells like port, karamel, roasted malts and wood. Taste is immediately the roasted malts, which is quite surprisingly. Ends somewhat acidic with sweet hints. Aftertaste is complete hop bitterness and little acidic.

Bottle@Home. The aroma is pretty great. Flavour is OK but not exceptional. Full and burning. Just a bit metallic.
