3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JAN 18, 2016 Bottle from SB, cons 2010-09-23, Göteborg, 2007 year edition!
AR: a bit like old stock, vinos, pruns, chocolate, rasins, very round and a bit oaky. The nice aroma i still there after being poured.
AP: dark ruby body, creme caramell coloured froty head
F: a bit to obevious strong, but very nice flavours of caramel, scottish toffee, vinos, pruns, chocolate, rasins fruity and a bit dry finish. I guess it needs a couple of more years of storing to get a rounder flavour and more appeling taste. Oily consistence. Have had several editions of this beer, over the years.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
(330ml bottle, 2010 vintage thanks to bu11zeye - Rating #3300!) clearish orange with a creamy tan head. Nose of honey, sweet caramel, a bit floral, smells so delicious. Taste is toasty, tiny bit alcoholic, sweet caramel. Wish it tasted exactly like it smelled. Still very nice.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
It poured a hazy dark golden liquid with a light brown foam that left some lacing. It had a strong smell with some warm alcohol. It felt round, thick and smooth in my mouth. Had a warm alcoholic finnish. Tasted of caramell, malt and fruity. Very nice.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
New Beer Distributors, NY 330ml ($3): 2009 bottle. Pours a brownish murk with a small head. Aroma is boozy, sugary, malty, and cakish. Taste is slightly boozy. Rather sweet. Mouthfeel is much lighter than expected. This ain’t that good of a barley wine. The extra years didn’t seem to mellow out the booze taste, but whatever, it was actually pretty easy to drink and that ain’t ever a bad thing.

Thanks to IBrew2or3 for the share. Pours clear yellow-orange with an off-white head. Nose is malt, sugar cubes, vanilla, citrus, some miscellaneous bitterness. Flavor has sugar, malt, caramel, and oversweet plums. Interesting barley wine. Somewhat syrupy and pretty nice.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Appearance: Slips out a clear, amber-edged, dark golden body with a smallish, but fairly persistent, near white head.
Smell: An even split of sweet-scented clover honey, simple syrup, and caramel ahead of florals, pureed fruit, and plenty of alcohol.
Taste: Sweet and deeply fruity with toothsome tastes of fresh honey, syrup, and light-colored caramel. Bready base malts. Figgy fruitiness. Mild oxidation giving a hint of sherry. Subdued hop character and bitterness. It’s a bit boozy, the Baronen, particularly on the heated, sweetish finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium-light carbonation.
Overall: A beer that barely achieves and never exceeds being merely OK.
