glennmastrange (2464) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - JAN 10, 2013
Bottle. Moderate to heavy cookie, roasted and caramel, moderate cooked orange for the hops, moderate dough and leather for the yeast, with notes of date and toffee. Head is small, wispy, off-white with no lacing and is fully diminishing. Color is murky medium orange/tan. Flavor starts moderately to heavily sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes moderately sweet and lightly acidic and bitter. Palate is medium to full, oily with a almost flat carbonation and a lightly alcoholic and chewy finish. Big and bold aromas and flavors combined with a perfect feel make this a relatively easy drinking Barley Wine.

330ml bottle, 2010 vintage. Pours a deep amber, beige head. Mature, malty aroma, caramel, walnuts, marzipan, toffee, fudge, dried fruits, sherry, madeira, earth, hops. Semi-sweet, full bodied, medium bitterness, creamy CO2. Malty, caramelly taste, the alcohol is quite evident but balanced, dried fruits, apricot, prunes, nuts, marzipan, madeira, earth. Long, sweetish aftertaste, dries out nicely. (2012-06-04)

330 ml bottle courtesy of Alex. Thanks. Pours a dark brown color with a small off-white head that recedes to a fine film. The aroma is raisins, carrots and slightly sour toffee. The taste had ample raisins, brown sugar and some nuts, but not very much bitterness. The palate was full and a bit oily with soft carbonation. Finishes short and sweet. Overall: Interesting brew, a nice change of pace from the barley wines that I typically get.

Flaska, vintage 2013 8,7%. Mörkt brun med röda inslag. Smutsvitt skum. Dofter av karamell, torkad frukt, malt, fikon i konjak, läder. Smakinslag av karamell, trä, sötlakrits, russin, söt frukt, läder... Härlig kropp, fyllig. Värmande alkohol. Karamellig avslutning. Gräddig och mjuk munkänsla. En fantastisk öl. Ren och skär njutning.

Malty and caramel aroma. Caramel is best in taste. It has a really "Barley Wine" of saithe in both taste and aroma. The upper part of the mouth gets its bitterness for a long while. But feels most mediocre anyway. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.
