thewolf (11234) - Kolding, DENMARK - SEP 5, 2008
Bottle @ YNWA, Kolding.
Pours completely black with a tiny, creamy, brown, film head. Sweet aroma, some fat maltiness, light smoke, coffee, nuts and dark chocolate. Medium carbonation, rather light for the style. Flavour is sweet at first, then fat chocolate and roasted malts before finishing in a wonderful, long, dry, bitter coffee note. Great!

Big dark brown head. Opaque black body goes dark brown at edges. Sugary milky cocoa and coffee aroma with toffee notes. Balanced and harmonic. Dry-sweet chocolatey roasty chocolate pudding taste with hoppy coffee notes. Some faint alcohol notes. Long dry-sweet aftertaste of the same. Lovely! Surprisingly light and drinkable. Near black colored with red hints. Little vanishing light brown head. Rich roasted caramelly aroma with some vanilla and creamy tone. Medium to full bodied. Flavor starts with port-vinous tone and mild vanilla roastiness, soft palate. Aftertaste lasts with this vanilla.

(Draught at HBF08)
Black, small and thick brown head. Nose is dark chocolate, berries, coffee and burned malt. Quite sweet mildly port vinous and malty flavor, some chocolate also. Dry coffeeish finish with liquorice. Medium to full bodied, quite strong carbonation, could be a tad smoother. Great, not too thick imperial stout.
