3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a solid black with a short brown hair. It has a somewhat light aroma of toasted malt along with some coffee and toffee. It has some toasted malt and coffee up front in the flavor, but more malt and toffee in the middle and aftertaste.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Head is initially average sized, frothy, brown, mostly lasting.
Body is black.
Aroma is moderately to heavily malty (roasted grain, unsweetened chocolate), with notes of tar and minerals.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter.
Medium body, watery/oily texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic.
Very one-dimensional in the nose...very roasty and tarry. Considerable sourness in the mouth. Not a fan.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle: Pours a deep brown almost black color with a finger tall tan head that doesn’t linger for very long. The aroma is roasty chocolate malts and molasses with a touch of alcohol. The taste is not what I was expecting. It’s a little salty with smokey roasted malts really dominating and really no sweetness. It’s actually lighter in body than you would think with a slick texture and sort of flat in the carbonation category and has a dry finish.
Overall I liked this beer but didn’t love it. This is rated as an imperial stout but really feels more like a regular stout. It just didn’t have the malt backbone I was looking for.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours black with a thin tan head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, raisin, dark fruits, vanilla. Flavor of sweet roasted malt upfront with lactose, vanilla, cacao nibs, sweet (almost tart) fruit, and chocolate in the finish. The flavor was better than the aroma but focused more on sweet fruits versus roasted malts. Solid palate. Nice imperial stout.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
The aroma is very toasted with heavy chocolate, coffee, cream, licorice, and brown sugar. The appearance is dark brown with a tan head. The taste is like the aroma with the addition of paper and astringent hops. The palate is average. Overall the best of this brewer but I am not really liking this brewer.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
2012.08.1 - 11.2oz bottle in tulip glass. Note, my bottle does not appear to by prototype as it's 7.0% abv, not 7.5. I see no entry for non-prototype. Pours very dark, head is darkish tan and about 3/4 inch but settles quickly. Aroma is roast malt. Taste is... well... Stout. Medium heavy on roast taste, just a tad of a "tang" to it. A decent stout, nothing superior IMO, certainly not worth what I paid for the bottle.

11.2oz bottle in a glass. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate and a little coffee, and some floral hops. Flavor the same, with a lot of malts. Average to smooth texture. A good beer.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at the Bishops Arms Copenhagen. A very dark beer, smooth and with some lacing. Best served cool. Very refreshing with a gorgeous aftertaste. Slightly metallic taste which is typical for this style. Well worth drinking and I will order this beer again!
