2012.08.1 - 11.2oz bottle in tulip glass. Note, my bottle does not appear to by prototype as it's 7.0% abv, not 7.5. I see no entry for non-prototype. Pours very dark, head is darkish tan and about 3/4 inch but settles quickly. Aroma is roast malt. Taste is... well... Stout. Medium heavy on roast taste, just a tad of a "tang" to it. A decent stout, nothing superior IMO, certainly not worth what I paid for the bottle.

11.2oz bottle in a glass. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate and a little coffee, and some floral hops. Flavor the same, with a lot of malts. Average to smooth texture. A good beer.

Bottle at the Bishops Arms Copenhagen. A very dark beer, smooth and with some lacing. Best served cool. Very refreshing with a gorgeous aftertaste. Slightly metallic taste which is typical for this style. Well worth drinking and I will order this beer again! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330 ml bottle from michael-pollack- thanks again, Pollack! 2010 vintage. Pours an opaque coffee brown with a huge, frothy, rocky tan head that laces the glass. Aroma of dark chocolate, earth, roast, tobacco, and a bit of ash. The flavor is largely the same, with bitter dark chocolate, earth, tobacco, licorice, and coffee. Medium bodied, with a roasty, bitter mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Simple, good imperial stout.

Nice aroma of roasted malt, smoke, chocolate and sweet dark roasted coffee. The taste is mellow with a distinct flavor of roasted malt and chocolate followed by tangy fruit notes and hints of coffee. The aftertaste is tangy and fruity with light nuances of vanilla. A very nice beer!

330. Thanks, Rene, for sending once upon a time. This a fresh, legitimately imported bottle. Pours jet black with a towering burnt tan head that takes forever to get out of the way. Full points for the name, too, while we’re at it with the surface observations. Tangy, odd nose, showing soy sauce and a bit of prune. Creamy medium body with soft carb. Soy, prune, chocolate, and a bit of roast on the mid palate. Way too tangy to really come into balance as an impy. Mild finish.
