Bottle from Bruisin Ales. Pours darkly ruddy with a creamy/bubbly beige head. Aroma is musty yeast with a faint chocolate background. Near full bodied. Flavor is musty chocolate with some coffee hints. Musty/earthy/yeasty. Dry. Then not. Then dusty dry. Then not. A little organic sulfur. Back to somewhat chocolate. Have no idea what is going on with this. Another challenging beer.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 ChainGangGuy (4123) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - FEB 4, 2012
Appearance: Pours out a clear, mahogany-hued body with a thin ring of tired-looking bubbles (despite being a gusher upon opening).
Smell: A sniff of unwrapped mentholated cough drops, tart berry skins, toasted bread, sweetish caramel, and a jigger of spirits. Not exactly an aroma that bades you to proceed further.
Taste: Mentho-lyptus and alcohol soothed only by a hint of sweet caramel candy and nutty, toasted malt. Sliver of berryesque fruitiness. Then, it’s back to the menthol and booze, growing in intensity midway and downright spoiling everything until the spicy, yeasty, unclean finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium-light carbonation.
Overall: I sat down to a few Hantverksbryggeriet beers, generally not liking any of them, and finding this one to be the most unpleasant.
3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 swoopjones (4229) - Buffalo, New York, USA - FEB 1, 2012
draft at Blue monk, Buffalo. ruby, aventinus like colored pour. One finger white head. muted aroma of light dried dark fruits/raisins. Sweet malts & dried fruits dominate the rather tame flavor. Flavor & aroma fall rather flat, fuller mouthfeel. Decent
3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 _angst_ (1745) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - JAN 2, 2012
330 ml bottle received as a Christmas present by Daniel. Consumed on January 2. Pours hazy chestnut brown with a creamy white head that slowly dissipates without leaving much trace. Smell is very sweet and yeasty with alcohol, some bread, raisins, prunes, apples and liquorice. Taste is sweet, slightly sour and quite vinous with dark sweet fruits, spices, hints of bread, yeast and caramel. Finish is slightly sweet and slightly bitter with lots of chocolate. I didn’t expect it to taste so good considering the not very impressive smell.
