Great Friends, Great Beer.
Hap Motlow, of the legendary Jack Daniel family from Lynchburg, TN used to tell his friend Harry Lipman "just alike Jack Daniels, a great beer starts with the best ingredients. good water, choice grains, and high grade yeast...brewed with integrity" As the first distributor of Jack Daniels after the repeal of prohibition, Harry passed this lesson down through generations of Lipmans, who remain in the industry to this day. Hap & Harry’s honors the friendship these two men shared over a half a century ago. Cheers to great friends and great beer!

Bottle at Nashville Gala chosen only because it was a new rating. Average across the board which isn't that bad for a pale lager. Just drink it cool because warmth does this no favors. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tasted on 12/22/11 on draft at the Yazoo Brewpub. Pours pale yellow with a hint of bronze, and a thick, smooth white head that slowly recedes to an even blanket of lace. The nose is light cereal and corny malt with a hint of hay and some spicy hops. The flavor is just as light with cereal, some sweet corn, and lightly bitter, spicy hops. The body is light with average, stinging carbonation, and a short lightly bitter and spicy hops finish.

Freebie from shrubber85. Pours a clear fizzy yellow. Aromas of citrus and grains. A little bready with fruity notes. Pretty average. I got my Tennessee tick.

Bottle as Hap & Harry’s Tennessee Lager. Clear very pale yellow color, big fluffy white head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of dusty straw, white pepper. Taste is lightly peppery lemon, moderately bitter finish. Not bad.

Bottle: (as Original Tennessee Lager) Clear, sparkling, pink-gold with a whipped white head. Corn and caramel malt aroma. Taste is very malty, corn/grain.....sweet and slightly heavy corn and caramel malt. Decent....though not very lively.

Hap & Harry’s lager (Nashville, TN) Pale golden with a very short-lived head  Looks like a pitiful light lager, but has a decent aroma and flavor.  Mostly malty in the nose but with a subtle hop presence.  Flavor: notably more hoppy that the aroma indicates, with a lingering if light hop note.  Feel: light body; crisp carbonation. Thin but not watery. O: good flavor for style
