(Cask at Old Fountain, Old Street, London, 19 May 2011) Golden amber colour with brief, off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with orange, peaches and a touch of mango chutney. Malty, fruity taste with notes of biscuity malt, peaches and a fresh, citrussy bitterness in the finish. Rather light body, with a touch of sweetness. Quite nice.

Cask (handpump) @ GBBF 2010, Great British Beer Festival, Earls Court Exhibition Centre, London, England.

Clear medium orange color with a average to large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted - caramel, fruity, light roasted, light hoppy, citrus. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20100805]

Cask gravity at GBBF 2010. Copper colour, lasting beige head. Slight sulphur yeast aroma. Cracking nick. Bitter beer finish. Really work-a-day session bitter that is bitter. Just a touch of acidity/bleach somewhere.

Draught at London Brewers Showcase. Pours light, clear brown with faint white head. Weird aroma of water and plastic. Flavor seemed poor, with more plastic-like bitterenss and faint bread. Mild coffee notes. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Didn’t do it for me.

Cask (gravity dispense) at Pigs Ear Beer Festival, 2 December 2009. Rather bizarrely described on the brewery website as an "Imperial Pale Ale" (sic). It’s one thing for Green King to call a basic bitter an IPA but I wish microbrewers wouldn’t follow suit. It just looks daft. The beer itself is gold in colour, has some pleasant tangy hops and a dry, clean mouthfeel. In other words, a perfectly good, solid session bitter. But not an IPA. Or an Imperial Pale Ale, whatever that is.
