COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
HAPKIN has a very good fresh, flowery, Saaz hop aroma, a very big creamy head, a soft malt character, and a spritzy, perfumy fruitness drying toward the finish.

The aroma is not impressive with wood, leaves, paper, alcohol, malt (grains), yeast, caramel, and grass. The appearance is amber gold with floating particles. The palate is really thin. Overall not a bad tasting beer but not a good one in the other qualities.

Bottle. Pours a golden orange body with a big white head. This was probably poorly kept at super saver what else is new. Some pepper spice, floral spicy hops, moth, and an ugly metallic tin character. Okay so its not that bad, i’ve had worse from super saver.

Thin, quickly receeding head of fine bubbles. Light carbonation. Sweet aroma with lots of honey, pears, a bit of sauerkraut and brusselsprouts. Yeah interesting mix of fruit and vegetal aromas. Color is a slightly hazy golden orange with some very large chunky floaties settled at the bottom. Light biscuity malts in the flavor with more sweet honey. Pretty dry and floral (lavendar) with some moderate bitterness. I believe the bottle says best before Sept 2003 and I know that is is several years old. Not bad but definately past its prime.

blond bier met stevig romerige schuimkraag, sterk fruitig hoparoma, zachte moutsmaak bij het mondgevoel, sprankelend en geparfumeerde smaak met een lichte bitterheid in de droge afdronkbitterheid

At P.Kelder, Brussels, Belgium. Bottled, 050309. Yellow with white head. Aroma of yeast and malt. Flavor is weak of grain with OK fruit tones.

A few years ago I had a very, very drunk night with this golden boy here. I like it very much, but it looks and tastes like the duvel. I did a test drinking a hapkin next to duvel and I have to say that hapking lacks the finishing touch the duvel has. The taste is a little bit more watery and less pronounced than the duvel.

In short: A bland Belgian blond without character with no specific flavour coming through
How: Bottle 330ml, drank when about 1 year old (consumed a while ago)
The look: Cloudy dark yellow body topped by a quickly dissipating medium white white
In long: Nose of dry garden flowers. Boring malt profile with a mixture of hay and italian pasta (!). A light pineapple touch. Very low sweetness level. Way too much carbonation. A little acidity in the finish. This is a throw away beer, a disposable hapkin.

...bottle. Poured a slightly hazy, golden yellow with a decent white head that was mostly lasting. On the nose were hops, light malts, and grassy notes. Flavors were floral, the nice Saaz hops were there, with some weird citrus notes. Body was medium, lots ot carbonation. Finish was slightly alcoholic, and dry. A good beer, especially when it is in the bargain bin.
