"GAAA!!! OK, this one was flat out bad. Mad Belikin Beer (1.7) seem like Pliny. More skunk and pee notes, and not really anything there to redeem it. Not even a passable summertime lawnmower beer."

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours a clear straw yellow, lots of bubbles, thick if not long-lasting cream-buff head. Fruity, malty aroma is typical but inviting. Flavor is crisply malty and refreshing, with a strong and cider-like note of apple. Texture is somewhat firm, somewhat smooth, somewhat fizzy. Fair to middlin’, but drinkable. Those Ethiopians know how to brew.

Your basic pale lager. This one is a bit thicker on the tongue and sweeter than some. Tried in DC with Jess in 2014.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Poured this beer from the bottle into a pint glass to drink. The beer had a very hazy, cloudy straw-gold color with a good-sized foamy off-white head that had pretty good retention, and decent cling and lacing. Its aroma had notes of barley, straw, and corn, and was not particularly good. The beer had a fairly strong bitter-sour grainy flavor with some notes of straw, yeast, and barley, and a bit of corn. It was an average-to-thick beer with a dry, chalky mouthfeel and aftertaste and was somewhat on the watery side. Overall a harsh beer, and my first from Ethiopia.

First sip, not too bad, rest of pour added lots of yeast and sediment, turned the beer slightly yeasty sour. Color changed to murky golden as well. Sour aroma of yeast, sourdough bread, hay. Taste is also on the sour side, slight sour aftertaste too. If you try this one avoid the sediment.

2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Bottle @ Meskerem, an Ethoopian restaurant in Washington, D.C. Pours clear golden with small white head. Clear aroma of yeast and hops with a slight citric note. Bitter flavour of hops but, above all, metal. Sparse malty touches. Mildly bitter aftertaste. Boring. Not very well balanced. Won’t have another one.

Bottle at Epcot Center Morocco. Poured a blond hazy yellow with small white head that slowly faded. Some bready wheat-like aromas with a light hay-like graininess. Taste is grainy with a light metallic bitter that ends dry. Mouthfeel is light with moderate carbonation.
