Strength united with elegance - a beer which should be enjoyed with respect. The beautiful harmony between the deep colour and the full-bodied taste has made Bjørne Bryg a success.

500 ml can as “Bear Beer 7.7%” bought at ParkNShop Superstore in Fanling.

Pale golden yellow colour; Three-quarter finger head with white foam which fades in 30 seconds; Small sticky lacing with notable small carbonation; Sweet smell of malt, with strong corn syrup, light metallic, light bread and very light grass; Sweet taste of malt, with very light medicine syrup, metallic, caustic alcohol, very light lemon, light bitter hops and grass; Mid to light body, thick and slick palate; Mouth feel is Euro malt likka on light side, strongly metallic, syrup taste is strong but bearable, not so cloying. Lightly malty, fusel taste is caustic and quite strong, very close to screaming… Hoppiness is light grassy nose, and notable spikes of bitter grassy hops in taste. Sharp but cheap astringency for sweet-bitter finish; Slightly dry after taste. Sweet and quite caustic to mouth.

Comments: I thought as a Strong Pale, its booze content is lower than 9% and 12% versions, so this one should be more tolerable and drinkable. Wrong! Its fusel booze is lighter but screamingly strong as ever, and lesser syrup sweetness only expose the thin malt and strong and quite harsh metallic taste. Below-average cheap stuff for the park benches, and Saint Omer 8.0% is way better!

Bättre än förväntat. Mycket malt och sötma. Relativt bra balans, trode det skulle vara skit men nja. Ok

0,5L bottle from Viru Õlu, 7% ABV. Pours clear straw-golden with head. The head disappears quickly. Aroma and taste is corn syrup. Overall: another beer from the series cheap and high abv and that’s all one needs to know about it.

Sweden-7.2-can-version : Aroma; alcoholic citrus, pale malts and hops. Clear golden beer with some straw golden tones, tall but diminishing head, laceworks as varied curtains inside the mug. Taste; sour lemon, lemon malts, caramel, juicy alcohol. To palate; juicy and creamy, slightly dry, a bit sticky. Finishes with dry fruity citric malts. Overall strange to me, but I must admit it has some taste. (1/2L can abv7.2% b@Systembolaget Storheden Luleå Sweden, brought back to Tromsø Norway, tasted@home)

Bottle from Mam and Dad’s holiday, Venice, Italy. This is a pale golden beer with a sweet sugary and toffee flavour, citrus notes and a warming fruity finish. Too little taste for its very high ABV.

Can in the San Jose airport as I wait for my flight. My God this is a syrupy mess. $5.50. The worst beer of the trip. Nose of Apple and pear juice. Poured out. My opinion of the Royal Danish court has fallen into the sub basement.

0.5L bottle. Medium Haljala brewery hop aroma. Light yeast and malt mix, usual and booring beer. Some sweet chemical candy, sour hops and little alcohol flavors.
