Keg at the Euston Tap, London. Pours clear yellow with a strong, white cream head. Some dusty straw in the nose, lemon citrus. Medium sweet flavor with doughy pale malts, some herbs, melon. Medium bodied with massaging carbonation. Lightly resinous finish with more lightly doughy pale malts, some lemon, dry pine, faint grass, white sugar. Average at best.

Euston Tap. Hazy amber beer, little white head. Palate is light and, airy and crisp. Pretty sweet malt with a trace of caramel. Whisper of skunky hop. Nice citric orange and marmalade. Mild melon underneath. Finishes crisp. Refreshing.

#2. Keg @ The North Pole. Pours amber with a medium white head. The nose is dried pine needle, some hay and grass. Mild caramel sweetness. The taste is mildly skunky hops, some apricot and caramel. Full bodied, active carbonation. Overall, this lacks the vitality that characterize great DIPAs. Maybe it was an old keg, but it just seemed a bit muted. Ho-hum for the style.

Aroma: Difficult to detect. Muted caramel and orange rind notes. Smells dry and hoppy. Clean, but not very powerful.
Appearance: Murky, amber body with a small white head. Good carbonation. Excellent lacing
Taste: Quite a deep, heavy taste with a warming alcohol burn. Sweet candy malt with a subtle orange flavour. Dry, bitter finish.
Palate: Medium body with a slick mouthfeel. Fizzy carbonation.
Overall: This isn’t as complex as I’d hoped for, but it’s a well balanced double IPA. Hoppy, dry and heavy.
