500ml dark glass bottle. Unfiltered. Sainsbury’s Beer Hunt 2013. Good malty - nice earthy rugged feel to it - unlike a lot of UK "craft" beers and most American beers. You can feel the yeast here, and that’s largely due to some very high quality bottle conditioning. I like this a lot. There’s fresh, citric American (and English?) hops - but not excessively so. As a style it appears to sit between an English premium bitter and an APA, though much closer to English in style - it has the rugged earthiness and character of a premium bitter, and some of the zest of an APA. It’s a lovely drink.

UPDATED: OCT 28, 2013 Bottle (5.2%) poured into a tulip glass. Peachy and mango notes in the aroma, which start distinct but begin to blend as the beer warms. Hop outweighs some background malt aroma. Slightly hazy deep amber colour, medium white head. Nice, classic IPA finish, mid-bitter but lasting.

Bottle, from Sainsburys, Scunthorpe. Hazy deep gold, thin but lasting white head and gentle condition. Pleasant grapefruit citrus and bitter peppery hop resin in the nose, well balanced in the mouth with a gentle grapefruity sweetness offsetting a delicate hoppy bitterness, theres a touch of distant grain and a low chalky yeastiness. The finish is muted with a citrus sweetness that gives way slowly to a low chalky bitterness

Very cloudy appearance with a lot of floating bits (dead yeast presumably) when first poured. Settles after a few mins thankfully. Aroma is pretty flat and musty. Thankfully though it tastes better than I was expecting after these first two factors. Classic IPA taste if a little more bitter than I’d prefer.

Surprisingly fresh American hop bitterness in the bottle. Dark golden yellow. Big full off white head. Spritzy loose acidity with a short middle palate and a longish almost medium bitter end. Pretty good really.

Cask at Catford Bridge Tavern, SE London. A golden/amber coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Hoppy, fruity aroma. Tastes hoppy, some citrus fruit, slightly bitter and a little thin and lacking in complexity.

Bottle. Golden brown with an off white foam. Aromas are toffee with mango and grapefruit. Lemon with herbal woody pine and spices. Pithy rind with background brown sugar. Flavours are bittersweet lemon with grapefruit and pine. Festive spices with lime and lots of pithy bitterness to finish. Spritzy.

Bottle from Sainsburys, Bicester, Oxon. Consumed at home, Sunday 22nd September 2013 Pours hazy gold/orange with a white head. Biscuity malts from the off and a steady if somewhat safe buzzy bitterness and hoppiness. Lightly citrus but nothing leaping out, I was expecting better things from this beer, don’t get me wrong it is very pleasant just not great. A6 A3 T6 P3 Ov13. 3.3

White 1 inch head and amber in colour. Strong citrus and fruity aroma. There is quite a strong hop bite. High Cohumulone hops? The finish is quite bitter which doesn’t make it the smoothest IPA but a nice beer in general.
