Slightly cloudy dark amber hue with a small off white foamy head that leaves a decent amount of lacing. Glorious aroma strong in hoppy floweryness and citrus. This follows through to the taste which is citrusy and floral with a long bitter aftertaste. A good example of how an IPA should be.

Cask at Cask Days 2013 at the Brickworks, labelled Harbour Hand Drawn Monkey IPA, served in a tasting glass. Pours hazy golden with rocky white bubbles and some particulate. The nose has notes of flowers and caramel, along with slight citrus and English-style hops. The flavour is moderately bitter up front, and it becomes more so. Resinous notes develop through the middle and it closes out fruity and floral with a moderate bitter finish. On the palate it is light in body with a watery texture and no carbonation. Overall, this is a reasonable English-style IPA, but fairly simple. 2013-10-19

(Cask at Holborn Whippet, Holborn, London, 19 Nov 2013) Amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of caramel, citrus, dried apricots and grapefruit. Malty, fruity taste with orange peel, apricots, a touch of caramel, black-currant and a generous citric bitterness. Tasty and well made. Nice one.

Bottle from Gurd (who is a genius). I rather liked this. It definitely hit me up good. Roughage, straw, sneezes of foreign hops, on a gloss painted door. British, resolutely so. I agree with what Silk said (see below). x

2013-10-20. Very hazy pastel yellow body with a modest head. Aroma is sharply hoppy and yeasty as is the flavour. Quite bitter, almost astrigent, lightly yeasty throughout, bitter grapefruit citrus. Average bodied palate, modest carbonation. Not sure if the cask was in it’s prime but I found it a bit rough. Session 3, Cask Days 2013, Toronto

Bottle from Sainsburys. Amber pour with a light haze, white head. Grapefruit, mango and pineapple aroma. Tropical fruit and citrus flavour. Full on fruit action. Bitter-sweet finish. Refreshing and darned tasty too.

Appearance: Clear medium amber with thin ivory head about cm thick. Aroma: Lemon, apricot, blueberry, floral and spicy, with bread/toasty malt. Taste: Low sweetness, medium bitterness and low/medium sourness. Palate: Medium thick but smooth texture, light/medium body, average carbonation, lingering astringent bitter citrus malty finish with a hint of spice. Comments: Bottle version. Very good and left a glass lace.
