3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 bhensonb (8985) - Woodland, California, USA - MAY 15, 2013
Bottle from Trembling Madness in York. Pours black with a slight dark tan head. Aroma is sour, vinous chocolate. Med body. Flavor is sour, vinous, slightly milky chocolate. It’s certainly very different. I don’t know why it comes more vine than malt to me. Well, with time maybe it’s going a little whisky. It does have some heat. Finishes tastily sour, and hardly like an IS. It is what it is, and I wish I could try its relatives.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 humlelala (687) - DENMARK - APR 11, 2013
(33 cl bottle from Utobeers @ Borough Market; Bottle #576 of 660) Pours black with a quickly dissipating, tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, oak, vanilla and whisky. Oily texture, medium to full body, soft carbonation and a tangy finish. Taste is a bit unusual with the tart impressions that seem to go beyond what the roasted malt could deliver. It’s more likely to be either the barrel aging or something spontneous or both. However, the overall taste impression is relatively harmonic and this coupled with the fact that the beer is still being sold for 6 gbp per bottle at Utobeer makes it a natural assumption that the brever desired the tangy qualities in this beer. I think it makes it a bit strange and style-bending but isn’t that what this brewery is known for? I wouldn’t pay that price a seond time, though.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Koelschtrinker (8476) - Köln (Cologne), GERMANY - MAR 25, 2013
Danke an Scopey. Unscheinbar. 9/9/9/9/11/9

11th March 2012 Opaque black beer with a tidy dark tan head. Crisp fresh palate, lots of minerals. Tangy dark malt with dark fruits and sourish whisky. Trace of candy fruits. Crispy finish with a tangy aftertaste and a touch of molasses.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Dr_Butty (87) - SCOTLAND - NOV 10, 2012
Bottle 540 of 660. Pours black, tan head which disappears very quickly. Aroma is chocolatey, distinct. Surprisingly acidic at first, but more balanced towards the dry finish. Flavours are chocolate and dry roast malts. Lacks body for a beer of this strength.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 suprchunk (1393) - Heinsberg, GERMANY - OCT 22, 2012
Black pour with a slim layer of tan bubbles. No lacing, and barely any carbonation. Smoky malt aroma, almost like band-aids. Sour bite up front. And it sticks with the drink througout. Tart, yet sweet flavor with some whiskey flavors mixed in. Not bad.

Bottle from Jacks, Westholme Stores Goring-on-Thames, consumed at home Sunday 29th July 2012 Pours very dark brown, nearly black with a light beige head. Really tangy the whisky cask ageing shows but adds little. Drinks easier than 7.5%. Roasty with a little salty liquorice, ok. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov12 3.1
