We could tell you it’s a black IPA, and if we did we would be letting you into a great secret. But as you don’t believe in black IPA, you can just pass over this beer and move back to your dark mild as after all, black beer shouldn’t taste this good.

Bottle from Tomlinsons, Inverness [160213]
Black, thin ruby edges on glass, thin tan head, some lacing
Aroma - soft citrus, hint of chocolate, light aroma
Taste soft roasted malts, touch of cola, some sweet dark malts, touch of chocolate, citrus hops, dab of piney hop, nice touch of floral hop, well balanced...good flavour but rather light though...i like BIPAs to be fairly robust
Palate - Medium carb, bit over carbonated thin to medium body. Soft mouthfeel, light bitterweet palate. Finish as main flavour with a soft linger with some roasted dark malts coming through
Overall - A black IPA with a mellow stouty flavour with some soft citrus and a dab of floral hop in there. ...there are many variations of BIPAs out there - this is the style I like.....Must try this in cask one day

33cl bottle. Bbe 19.03.2016. Dark brown in color, the head is huge and thick, lasts. Ashy roasty aroma with citrus fruits in there, nicely hopped. Flavor has dark chocolate, ash, slight burntness, roasted malt, hops and Grapefruit. Massive. Mice bitter bite in finish. Is this only 5,6 abv? Wow. Really tasty black IPA, I like the ashy notes here. Solid. Hops lingering long afterwards in my mouth.

Brązowe, klarowne, z ładną beżową piana i świetnym lacingiem. Aromat kwaśny, porzeczkowy z delikatna nutą czekolady. W smaku dość pusty, brak ciała, delikatne nuty czekolady, ale głownie ciemne słody. Kiepskie jak na Black IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared by Dutchdrebus and Ansjelaah. Dark red to slightly brown color, huge a bit soapy off-white head that lasts for quite a while. Aroma is a but faint or perhaps I don’t get any aroma because of the huge head. Taste malts, slightly roasty, lightly bitter, a touch of oxidation. I miss the hops and some fruityness.

#1300 i Valencia. Lite dov aroma kanske, rostade toner. Smaken viss beska och rostade toner men lite för klen. Saknar fruktigheten.

Had this in bottle that I picked up from ’Jacks’, Westholme Stores, Goring-on-Thames, Oxon. Consumed at home, Sunday 21st September 2014 Soft in the mouth, a gentle carbonation, hoppy but not too bolshy, particularly when compared against the Beer Here Exexcutioner IPA that we’ve just had. A little roasty & bitter with a fruity tang. Don’t mind this at all. A6 A4 T7 P3 Ov13 3.3

Bottled 30/08/14. This poured as lively as nearly any beer I’ve ever poured with the most enormous volcanic off-white head atop the dark brown body. Actually tasty but what a palaver to drink as you have to fight your way through the head. Good sharp citrussy hops with hints of licorice and coffee. Huge bitterness. A lovely drink but have to take marks off as it’s so painful to get through.

Nose is lots of malt and yeast, slight chocolate, dark cherry and forest fruits. Taste is forest fruit, leading to a sweet mid tone with slight hop pine, then malt and cocoa. By the numbers black IPA.
