3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Tomlinson’s Beer Shop, Inverness
Golden amber, slight haze, frothy white head, some lacing
Aroma of citrus hops, soft pale malts, soft lemon
Taste of citrus hops, bit of orange zest, some bittering hops, soft cereals, nice zesty hop, soft pale malts, nicely balanced, good flavour for the abv
Palate - soft carb, bit oily texture, quite smooth. Finish as main flavour with some lingering zesty cereal bitterness
Overall - Good flavour for the abv, good for a lowish abv bottled beer - must try this on cask. 330 ml was not enough...

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Slightly cloudy amber coloured beer with a strong bubbly head and a fizzy bubbly body. The aroma is dry with gently yeastiness, and the flavour is very dry and hopped with yeastiness. Overall a reasonable well hopped and very dry tasting beer.

A fresh tasting hoppy bitter, not one of hardnott’s best, but a decent post walk glugger

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled (backlog). Hazy orangeish amber colour with a small slightly off-white head. Aroma is fruity, floral, nectary and mildly honeyish with some bready and toffeeish malts as well. Flavour is very similar in a good balance. Quite sweet overall, but also has a nice mellow bitterness to it.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Open All Hours in Keswick. Pours hazy amber with big frothy off white head. Interesting - this bottle must have either got infected or is mislabled. The taste is sharp with lots of sour citrus. Reminiscent of a geuze. Certainly not a robust session bitter and probably better for it. A little bit thin, but light and refreshing and pretty good. I’d be interested to try this again to see what it’s supposed to be like.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled, 330ml from Tebay Services, Orton, Cumbria. Gold to amber with white head. Initially this proved to be a zesty, grapefruit hop laden beer, crisp. As I drank through it a twangy, sourish, boiled vegetable note appeared, not enough to detract too much from the beer but it has reduced the mark. Slightly flabby finish but the start was great.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cask & bottle conditioned; Regular. We could tell you it’s a black IPA, and if we did we would be letting you into a great secret. But as you don’t believe in black IPA, you can just pass over this beer and move back to your dark mild as after all, black beer shouldn’t taste this good.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
33 cl bottle. BBE 12.07.2015.
Pours clear golden color with a large head. Grassy notes and some citric fruits on the nose, faint earthy notes too. Bitter grassy flavor, lemon and grapefruits, very distant berry notes, some not-so-pleasant boiled vegetables too. Something’s a bit off here, not very pleasant.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cask @ Soup Kitchen, Manchester. Clear golden with a small head. Mainly hopped, although there’s a pleasant bitterness attached to this ale as well. There’s a small sweetness here too, mostly evident in its nose.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle @ home. Clear rusty orange color, medium sized quite quickly diminishing white head that leaves fair to good lacing. Aroma is malts, spicy hops, citrussy. Tastes alike: again citrussy, spicy hops, a bit zesty and some orangepeel and a decent to firm maltyness. A bit too sharp / too much hop spicyness for me. Average body and carbonation.
