Bottle at home from High Peak Beers, Stockport. Pours an almost black brown with a medium tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, light fruit, some smoke and licorice. Flavour is fairly soft and roasty, not bad at all.

Garrold (1154) - Sheffield, South Yorkshire, ENGLAND - APR 11, 2014
Bottle from Bier Huis, Ossett. Very dark, chestnut brown. Big, bubbly, tan head. Drank this quite cold as I thought it was a BIPA. Not that it mattered, because like other Hardknott beers I’ve had, this is a bit bonkers. Blackcurrant liquorice sweets. Shoe polish (?). Raisins. Taste is dry. Light bitterness. Light, black peppery spiciness. Bit overly carbonated. Dry, light, bitter finish. Very decent. Certainly different.

Bottle 330ml (AbM)
Deep ruby color, midsized beige head. Woody, earthy, spicey, berries and dark malts in the nose. Light to medium-bodied. Roasted flavor with herbal notes, ginger and some other spiceys. Light earthy note too. Not my cup of tea (beer).
