3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 taganaya (39) - Greater Manchester, - JUL 18, 2012Draft at port street beerhouse, Manchester. Smells sweet, floral, fruity. Orange gold with foamy white head. Tastes... confused. Sweet, boozy, bitter. Some banana, not much other fruit. Biscuits, tea. Interesting but doesn’t all come together for me.
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 brugmanneke (222) - GERMANY - MAY 11, 2013
(50 cl bottle) Amber, hazy, with a cream-coloured head. Intense aroma with a good balance of malts and hops. Like tropical wood, fir needles, nutty, hay, rye bread, a hint of caramel. Only minimal sweetness, taste is mainly bitter. Medium to full body, smooth mouthfeel, lingering aroma on the roof of the mouth. Clearly an English rather than an American IPA, and a very well-crafted and well-balanced one. Absolutely delicious, and I think I would like to taste more of those new hops as well!
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 wyzzywyz22 (1644) - Wirral, Merseyside, ENGLAND - FEB 5, 2013
Bottle from Chester Beer & Wine. Hazy amber pour with a generous off-white head. Rather muted nose, with some grassy hop and marmalade notes. Dryish flavour with some earthy and sweet malt notes alongside citrus and decent hop bitterness. Farly lively carbonation. Some english reserve in evidence here in comparison to the more in your face hop varieties from foreign shores. Perfectly drinkable and not without some charm.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 johninmelb (1005) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - DEC 9, 2012
Bottle from Corks of Cotham. Somewhat unassuming nose with some very gentle citric hoppy notes. Pours cloudy with a persistent and pillowy head. The flavour continues with the same unassumingness as the nose, but has a gentle exposition into something rather special. A well-balanced marriage (or is that a menage a trois?) of a talented microbrewer (Hardknott), the best of the established UK brewers (Fullers) and a forward-thinking approach to local produce and sustainability. When you see a beer with this ethical and provenant a pedigree you only have one hope - that it works. And it does. It won’t make you change your religion, but it’s a damn fine beer with a balanced complexity and a subtleness of hop that would have you coming back for more. If this is an english experiment, I can safely say it is an empirical success.

Bottle at Craig’s 16th Oct 2012
Orange amber, slight haze, big frothy white head from bottle
Aroma - pale caramel malts, soft spicy hop, hint of orange
Taste - soft bit spicy english hops, caramel malts, touch of honey, nice, mellow
Palate - soft carb, medim body, some oilyness. Finish - smooth, mellow, little dry
Overall - It’s OK - not that hoppy, mellow, understated...I think I expected more from this collabaration...nothing that special here

Bottle at Craig’s. Slightly hazy orange yellow, thin bubbly head. Light dusty lemon fruits, spicy hop nose. Light lemon hop juiciness, perfumed hops, quite big bitter lemony finish. A nice idea, but not too exciting.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Theydon_Bois (2957) - The ’Sham, Surrey, ENGLAND - OCT 5, 2012
Bottle at the Sussex Arms, Twickenham Green - 30/09/12.
Hazy golden blonde with a big bubbly white head.
Light caramel aroma, fruit tones, slightly sour nose.
Taste follows sour fruity flavour.
Medium bodied with the carbonation being pitched a little too high and spritzy for my liking.
Drinkable but a little disappointed with this one, expected something more!
