This IPA is not particularly Pale. In fact it’s a deep ruby red. Based on a modern American style beer from Oregon using Cascade and Centennial hops in appropriate proportions, for bittering, aroma and dry hopping balanced with a strong Crystal malt backbone.

Had an interesting head, Orval style, long lasting. Aroma wasn’t too great but you could feel the hops. Flavourwise, a bit disappointed, was expecting a slightlier more hoppy flavour, just felt bitter with no taste, nothing special in particular

Pours a nice deep red with a dense off white head. Aroma is fairly weak, juicy fruit, caramel biscuit, and citrus peel is just about there. Taste is mildly green and hoppy, a thin caramel biscuit presence, finishing bitter, astringent, unbalanced, and very jarring. The level of bitterness is fine but it is clearly an example of poor choice/use of hops: aroma is weak and the bitterness is unpleasantly astringent and harsh. Poor brewing. I had such high hopes...

Pours dark copper amber in colour with light tan head. Aroma is very much toasted malt, some citrus and tropical fruit, caramel and earthy. A very bitter but smoothly sweet taste and strong lingering flavour. A little fizzy in the mouth but that doesn’t stop this being a nice beer.

Many thanks to bobinlondon for the bottle!! Pours a clear chestnut color with a lofty tan head. The smell is toasted malt, citrus, some spice, mild caramel. The taste is tangy fruit, citrus, toasted malt, a bit of off-flavor and some spice on the end. Light+ in body with very active carbonation. The carbonation and flavor make me wonder if the bottle was perhaps infected. It wasn’t totally bad but seemed a bit off.

330ml bottle. Clear, copper-ish, dark amber colour with average to huge, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, ochre-ish beige head. Fruity hoppy aroma, hints of cherries and red berries, some orange, sangria borrowings. Taste is slightly sweet caramel malty with a nuttily touch, fruity hoppy overtones with hints of sweet red fruit, a bitter touch of orange zest.

Almost bright, amber colour, aroma is some roast and malts, taste is very roasted and, again, coarsely bitter upfront which is how it should be and seems to be a common feature in Dave’s beers. Nicely done, Dave!

Pours red with an off white, foamy head. Aroma is quite woody, earthy. Taste is very earthy too, malty, bit of a bitter finish. Lovely.

Bottle from Morrisons. Murky amber/ruby body with a thick beige head. Light lacing. Aroma of caramel, nutty malts, wood and red fruits. Flavour of stewed strawberry, parma violets, dried fruits and earth. Medium body with an oily texture. Soft fizz. Restrained and less hoppy than I’d hoped it would be. Decent beer though. I don’t think the description on the bottle reflects the beer contained within.

Bottle. Pours a lovely deep red colour with a good sized off white head. Aroma is rich malts and hops with a light bitter and dry finish on the malty taste.
