COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned. Has been seen in cask.
This IPA is not particularly Pale. In fact it’s a deep ruby red. Based on a modern American style beer from Oregon using Cascade and Centennial hops in appropriate proportions, for bittering, aroma and dry hopping balanced with a strong Crystal malt backbone.

Bottled. A hazy dark amber beer with a lazing off-white head. The aroma has notes of citrusy, fruity, and dusty hops, combined with notes of caramel, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of hops, dust, malt, and caramel, as well as lighter notes of elderflowers, leading to a bitter finish.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours a hazy amber with a frothy off-white head leaving laces. Bretty, farty nose. Medium body, caramel, fruit and a ton of (hardly intended?) Brett. Dry and leathery finish with a dusty hoppiness. Comes out Orvallish! 170611

50 cL bottle. Pours hazy orange to light brown with a huge, tan and dense head. Aroma is mild brett to barnyard aroma. Herbal, brett, leathery and dry bitter flavoured. Vague fruity note. Smooth bitter and leathery finish. Malty Orval, far from the hops mentioned.

[500ml bottle, UtoBeer stall, Borough Market] Dull red colour with a decent white head, very clear. Bitter hop aromas from the off, combine really well with the malt component. On the palate too, piney bitterness from start to finish, but the malt balances really well. Red IPA’s have that extra something that distinguishes them from regular IIPA’s, and this is no exception. Really drinkable too, very dangerous at 6.5% [09062011]

Bottle, Rehills, Ncl. Very interesting beer. Fresh gassy aroma, with caramel in the nose and taste. Very warming alcohol, with a great late bitterness, bring a tart dryness to compete with the early sweetness. Such a complex beer, with a great range of flavours and definitely puts me right in mind of those big US IPAs

(Cask at The Rake, London Bridge, London, 21 May 2011) Dark reddish amber colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, slightly roasted nose with caramel, citrus and black-currant. Malty, fruity taste with notes of citrus, black-currant, caramel, red fruit and a generous bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, fairly sweet. Nice and tasty beer.

A light ruby-orange beer with a creamy, sour nose reminiscent of flemish red ales. The beer is a nice mixture of tart and bitter with a lingering alcohol burn. The hops give a fair amount of bitterness but this doesn’t overpower the tartness of this beer.
