Bottle conditioned. Has been seen in cask.
This IPA is not particularly Pale. In fact it’s a deep ruby red. Based on a modern American style beer from Oregon using Cascade and Centennial hops in appropriate proportions, for bittering, aroma and dry hopping balanced with a strong Crystal malt backbone.

33 cl bottle.
Pours clear dark mahogany-red color with a large head. Aroma is very hoppy and crisp, resin, some caramel malts, citric fruits and gooseberry bush. Flavor is citric with fruits, mild caramel malts, again lots of resinous hops and gooseberries on the finish. There is sadly some weird strawberry-like off-note that ruins the show a bit. Bitter fruity palate, a bit harsh tangy feel to it even, lingering malty finish. Nice despite the off-flavors.

330ml bottle at pub. Reddish colour, big foamy white head which takes alot of time to disappear. Slight aroma of fruits and hops. Taste is citrrs, little piney, decent hop bitterness and,as it warms,a sweet caramel aftertaste.

330ml bottle poured into a tulip glass. Frothier than a Kavos foam party. Little bit raw but magnificently hopped.

Bottle. Reddish Amber in colour. BCA; some sediment. Very Hoppy; piney resinous hops; decent hop bite. Very Fruity; grapefruit citrus. Slightly spicy. Malty; toffee, sweet malts. Bitter hoppy citrus fruity meets sweet caramel malts. Liked this. Nice IPA!

Straggler bottle from 2013 Sainsbury’s Beer Hunt. Pours reddish light brown, massive khaki head. Smells of grass & strawberry jam, or... anyone remember Hawaiian Punch? Less synthetic than that but you get the idea. Taste is prominent bitter following initial sweetness. Well balanced. Thin carby palette.

Bottle from Sainsburys, Streatham, London - (on a special at 60p a bottle, bargain) copper/ dark reddish pour with an off-white persistent head and lacing. Fresh hoppy aroma and taste, caramel, toffee, slight treacle, hops citrus and a bit of toffee, great bitterness on this. Lovely drop.

Dark amber/reddish pour with a frothy white head which holds. Citrus, pine, berries, malty sweetness (subdued). Good carbonation but a bit soapy. Nice overall.

Bottle from Sainsburys. Was really looking forward to this, so imagine my disappointment when I opened the bottle (after a long, shitty day at work!) and the contents erupted all over the kitchen worktop, floor and sink. I’ve been left with a centimetre of headless murky amber beer, with loads of "floaters", cant say I’m looking forward to this! Certainly smells ok, well hopped! This is also the case on the palate, the 6.2% is also noticable. Quite nice, shame about the disastrous start. There’s nothing on the label to suggest this is bottle conditioned, and it doesn’t seem to be infected as the "floaters" have now all sunk to the bottom, so I guess this was one of the last bottles out of the vat! Nice beer, but not impressed! ...... a couple of hours later and I’ve just been on the brewery website and it IS bottle conditioned, they just dont say it on the label!! .......I’ve just re-read the description above and the first line says "bottle conditioned" !!! Well Done Gavin!!

I really like this. I like this style. Pours with a lovely big smooth fluffy head and amber appearance. A nice hoppy aroma, though not over stated, that invites you in to quite a big rich flavour for a relatively low ABV. The bitterness level is just great...big, how I like it in this style. I know I’m drinking a 6%r but I just want to gulp it it down and relish it. For me this is comfort drinking for the autumn season and the encroaching winter. Possibly the most interesting beer I’ve ever bought out of Sainsburys, and at just £1.25 a bottle, a snip.
