COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned. Has been seen in cask.
This IPA is not particularly Pale. In fact it’s a deep ruby red. Based on a modern American style beer from Oregon using Cascade and Centennial hops in appropriate proportions, for bittering, aroma and dry hopping balanced with a strong Crystal malt backbone.

UPDATED: JUN 10, 2011 10 June 2011, bottle at a beercast w/ BeerCast_Rich. red, faintly hazy, no bubbles, no head. bitter grassy hops and some pink grapefruit citrus as well. thin/med body and fairly fizzy. decent beer. dryly bitter hops. not much else. very dry finish. reminds me of 5am Saint, only this is better overall. i also think the last time i had this there was definitely something the matter w/ the bottle as there are no sour notes in this. (original rating: 8, 3, 7, 3, 15 = 3.6) 2 June 2011, bottle at one of CGarvieuk’s legendary tastings! ruby colour, clear, no bubbles, frothy head. smells great. smells like a belgian sour. very tart with perhaps the faintest dry grassy hops. thin body and fairly fizzy. very interesting. really reminds me of a belgian sour and grassiness. a flemish red w/out the vinegar and with a grassy dry bitterness. great but i don’t think it i supposed to taste like this.

A piney freshness escapes this bottle as soon as the cap is removwed. It pours a brilliant ruby read with a lively cream head. A suggestion of gooseberry in the aroma. The body is fairly bitter with sweetness of red fruit tailing into a resinous finish. An interesting combination of flavours

Medium offwhite head. Hazy reddish amber body with light carbonation. Strong earthy resiny aroma with tropical fruit and citrus notes. Interesting how it’s both musty and fresh. Dry-sweet intensely fruity resiny earthy taste with pineapple notes. Mid-bodied. Slightly sharp mouthfeel. Dry-sweet buttery earthy tropical fruit aftertaste with resiny lime and oranges notes. Unusual for the musty, earthy parts, but lovely and highly drinkable. (0.5l bottle, beermerchants.com.)

Cask Handpump at the Harlequin, Sheffield 09/10/2010 Hoppy aroma. Small white head. Amber red coloured strong in alcohol hoppy and fruity with an orange flavour. A hint of dryness in a bitter malt finish.

Bottle from beermerchants.com A ruby/red coloured pour with a medium off white head. Interesting malty, hoppy aroma. Tastes hoppy, dry, citrus fruit, caramel, pine. Fancy looking bottle but I expected more. Perfectly drinkable though.

500ml bottle drunk on 4 December 2010. Best before 10 July 2012. Reddish colour. A bit murky. Generous head. Good hop presence throughout. Sharp mouthfeel. Firm, clean feel with lasting bitterness. Decent stuff but pricing seemed a bit steep at £5.30 a bottle.

Bottle. Best before 02/11/12. Pours red/copper with a huge rocky light tanned head. Aroma of rich malts, fruity and floral hops, strawberry and pine. Taste is those rich malts, toffee, even coffee and liquorice, spices, very rich and smooth mouthfeel, ends strong bitter, spearmint and a touch of alcohol as well, very good IPA.

Bottle. Pale chestnut with a patchy, off-white skim of foam. Attractive, yeasty aroma reminiscent of White Shield; redcurrant, red apple peel, molten plastic with some slightly pissy, stemmy green hop deep in the mix. Flavour intense quinine bitterness softened by a lesser, nut husk bitterness; more apple and redcurrant fruit, maybe lemon from the Cascade, some good earthy chocolate, walnut and brown Smartie hints. Likeable brew, but the hops don’t really shine and it leans a little too close to bog standard, yeasty bottled bitter territory for my taste.

Pours amber/red with a offwhite head. Aroma of strawbeery, caramel and resin. Flavour starts with resin and grapefruit then balances it with the fruityness from strawbeeries and the sweet caramel. Nice mouthfeel.

Bottle, bought @ Beermerchants.com.
Lovely ruby red with a big, creamy, off-white head. Lovely duration. Sweet malty aroma, lots of red berries, light grapefruit, light melon. Lowish carbonation, fine dry and light creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has mild sweetness, lots of hops. Dry, bitter, light piney, grapefruit, red apples, mild spicy notes. Some crystal malts and a bit of rye bread. Quite lovely beer.
