COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned. Has been seen in cask.
This IPA is not particularly Pale. In fact it’s a deep ruby red. Based on a modern American style beer from Oregon using Cascade and Centennial hops in appropriate proportions, for bittering, aroma and dry hopping balanced with a strong Crystal malt backbone.

Bottle @ Aarhus tasting. Clear amber with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, heavy caramel and moderate hoppy - fruity and old hops. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Sweet and moderate bitter finish. Too sweet for my liking. 260913

330ml bottle at home. Pours chestnut brown with a frothy receding head. A nice fresh hoppy aroma, very refreshing taste, hopped to hell but in a very skilful way. Quite fancy another one now.

Very highly carbonated foam almost escaped from the bottle before pouring. Aroma is pretty low with hints of red berries a fair bit of grass and a touch of roast. Flavour is a reasonable balance of bitter and hop with some citrus elements. May hae got a dodgy bottle will try one more as hardknot beers are usually good.

UPDATED: SEP 15, 2013 33cl bottle from the Sainsbury’s Beer Hunt 2013 range. Reddish copper with a billowing but fast fading cream head; the aroma is predominantly Belgian yeast with some sour fruit; pleasant hoppy bitterness but rather sweet; and a lasting, warming, finish.

Well this was quite nice, and 10 years ago, it would have been in my top 10. As it stands, a superior IPA, more woody than most, with a generous creamy palate, and a spruce/citrus finih;. but I worry, that just like carlsberg is marketed as the best lager in the world, craft beer manufacturers thinks their IPA is so good, we should all bow down and worship, and blurb it as so. Good, but not that good (for me).

330ml bottle from Redmonds of Ranelagh. Quite a dark shade of amber, huge rocky white head, lots of activity in the glass, foaming all over the place. Strange candi sugar nose, Flavour is sweet up front, then huge dry bitterness with yeasty notes. Medium bodied, really fizzy. Finish is grapefruit and a little malt sweetness. Strange brew, almost Belgian in character, but not bad.
