2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle from Sainsburys. Was really looking forward to this, so imagine my disappointment when I opened the bottle (after a long, shitty day at work!) and the contents erupted all over the kitchen worktop, floor and sink. Iíve been left with a centimetre of headless murky amber beer, with loads of "floaters", cant say Iím looking forward to this! Certainly smells ok, well hopped! This is also the case on the palate, the 6.2% is also noticable. Quite nice, shame about the disastrous start. Thereís nothing on the label to suggest this is bottle conditioned, and it doesnít seem to be infected as the "floaters" have now all sunk to the bottom, so I guess this was one of the last bottles out of the vat! Nice beer, but not impressed!
...... a couple of hours later and Iíve just been on the brewery website and it IS bottle conditioned, they just dont say it on the label!!
.......Iíve just re-read the deScription above and the first line says "bottle conditioned" !!! Well Done Gavin!!

Not a bad beer, liked the colour but to be honest I would have preferred a fresher hop flavour and less bittering. Not sure it carried well across the pond.

Bottle at home. Pours a dark red amber. Decent sweet malt flavour. Some nuttiness, slight bitter bite. Smooth finish. Good.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma is floral and hoppy with a touch of caramel. Nice taste. The fruity caramel sweetness balances well against the dryness of the hop.

Bottle at Figs. Straight from the bottle unfortunately. Aroma is pretty weak, slight toast, slight funk. Taste is big malts, bread, dry finish.

Had an interesting head, Orval style, long lasting. Aroma wasnít too great but you could feel the hops. Flavourwise, a bit disappointed, was expecting a slightlier more hoppy flavour, just felt bitter with no taste, nothing special in particular

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours a nice deep red with a dense off white head. Aroma is fairly weak, juicy fruit, caramel biscuit, and citrus peel is just about there. Taste is mildly green and hoppy, a thin caramel biscuit presence, finishing bitter, astringent, unbalanced, and very jarring. The level of bitterness is fine but it is clearly an example of poor choice/use of hops: aroma is weak and the bitterness is unpleasantly astringent and harsh. Poor brewing. I had such high hopes...

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours dark copper amber in colour with light tan head. Aroma is very much toasted malt, some citrus and tropical fruit, caramel and earthy. A very bitter but smoothly sweet taste and strong lingering flavour. A little fizzy in the mouth but that doesnít stop this being a nice beer.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Many thanks to bobinlondon for the bottle!! Pours a clear chestnut color with a lofty tan head. The smell is toasted malt, citrus, some spice, mild caramel. The taste is tangy fruit, citrus, toasted malt, a bit of off-flavor and some spice on the end. Light+ in body with very active carbonation. The carbonation and flavor make me wonder if the bottle was perhaps infected. It wasnít totally bad but seemed a bit off.
