3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
330 ml bottle.
Pours a pitch black colour with a dark brown head. Looks awesome. Aroma of really strong roasted malts, licorice, vegetables and roasted coffee. Flavour of roasted malts, strong coffee, cooked vegetables, vanilla and grassy hops. Some floral notes. Full bodied, oily mouthfeel and a long warming roasty finish. Past it’s prime.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus. Opaque pitch black color, medium sized dark brown head. Aroma is malts, dark and roasted malts, coffee, espresso, loads and loads of coffee and espresso, vanilla. Taste malts, again loads of coffee and espresso, quite some vanilla, sweetness as well as bitterness, slightly iron. Wow, loads and loads of flavors mixed together. Not completely balanced, but certainly not a mess. I think this is a wonderful beer, but I just happen to not like vanilla.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at home from the beer stall in Stockport market, good bloke that guy there. Thick black colour with a very small tan head. Aroma of vanilla, chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, something metallic. Flavour dark chocolate, some alcohol warmth, jammy fruity notes, some coffee bitterness. A decent beer but something just didn’t give me wood. 837315

3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours petrol black. Head disappears, which makes it look terrible. Coffee, big sweetness, liquorice, some burnt notes, smoky wood. Flavour is smooth sweet milk. Big bitter hit on the finish, with massive alcohol burn. No bubbles. There is a lot going on the nose but the alcohol is not integrated enough. Oily slick mouthfeel. Not great.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle from Bier Huis, Ossett. Clear, very dark, reddy brown. Halo of tan head. Sugary espresso. Taste is thick sweetness. Some coffee bitterness. Thick, sugary palate. Bitterness at the end, but too late to prevent tooth melt. A bit rough, to be honest.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma suggests sweet intensity and that’s precisely what it delivers. Thin head which disappears quickly, coffee and a nice roastiness, nice carbonation keeping the beer from overwhelming. Just too much Vanilla in there for me making the sweet finish spoil the balance.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
What a wiff off this..a big stout indeed. Lots of coffee and mocha on the nose, little light on the palate even though its 11%, flavours are there, coffee, chocolate, mocha, some tobacco oddly! Still a smashing beer, will be buying to age maybe one or two :)
