COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask & bottle conditioned; Special.
It’s a triple imperial stout with lots of stuff in it. It’s full of beans, three different types in fact (coffee, vanilla and cocoa). It’s 11% and black. You wouldn’t neck it very fast, it will be seriously expensive for one thing. Also, you wouldn’t drink much of it because of the intense flavours. It is unlikely to cause major drunken behaviour mainly because it is aimed at beer geeks rather than tramps.

Bottle. Black and poured with a big head. Chocolate dominates with a strong mouthfeel. Left no lacing. Pretty awesome.

330 ml bottle. A black body with a small brown head. Aroma of dark malt and roasted coffee. Flavour is very sweet malt, roast, molasses, liquorices, soya, warming alcohol and rather moderate in bitterness. Full body and long, sweet aftertaste. A big beer with lots of flavour, maybe a bit too much for the overall impression and too sweet for me.

Opaque dark brown beer, little tan head. Smooth palate. Rich malt with a lot of bubblegum ester. Vanilla and smooth coffee. Finishes tangy with some coffee bitterness in the aftertaste. Nice beer but the bubblegum esters get in the way a bit.

330 ml bottle.
Pours a pitch black colour with a dark brown head. Looks awesome. Aroma of really strong roasted malts, licorice, vegetables and roasted coffee. Flavour of roasted malts, strong coffee, cooked vegetables, vanilla and grassy hops. Some floral notes. Full bodied, oily mouthfeel and a long warming roasty finish. Past it’s prime.

33 cl bottle.
Pours dark brown color with a small head. Aroma of nettle, malts, ripe fruits, licorice, salmiac and some caramel. Flavor of ripe fruits, alcohol notes, dark berries, some vanilla and subtle caramel notes. A bit too intensive to be enjoyable.

330ml bottle

Pours dark brown, almost black with a tiny brown head. Aroma of stingy vegetables, roastiness, hints of cocoa and vanilla. Taste is strong with roasty vanilla notes, hints of stingy vegetables, cocoa and coffee. Finish is strong and malty with some roastiness and hints of vanilla. A bit unbalanced, feels like it would be slightly better from a fresh bottle.

33 cl bottle @ olio, BBE 20.04.2015
Aroma has nettles, gooseberry bush and hay. Also some roasted notes, some tar, vegetables typical to a mocha beer and gooseberry bush – something you would not expect from an imperial stout, Flavour has mocha, some vegetables, roasted notes, gooseberry bush and some bnettles. Perhaps some hints of vanilla mentioned in the label. Could’ve been better as fresh, mocha is clearly present but the vanilla is rather hard to observe.

This is the 1st batch
Jet black, dirty brown thick head, dissipates to thin brown layer with some lacing, deep and concentrated
Aroma - Huge roasted coffee, deep espresso, tar, some alcohol, charcoal, woody, burnt aroma, some bitter dark chocolate, mainly burnt roast coffee
Taste - Rich meaty roasted malts, complex, deep sweet dark malts, rich plain chocolate, rich espresso coffee which isn’t bitter, getting a hint of salt, touch of treacle, some soy, alcohol is noticeable here but is fine as the beer is so big, highly concentrated flavours, far less burnt notes than from the aroma. I’m not getting the vanilla - maybe it has been lost with the aging. The taste is so so concentrated and so so massive
Palate - Soft carb, full body, very creamy texture. Finish as main flavour, thick rich dark malts, chocolate, smooth, warming alcohol at the back end
Overall - Big big concentrated flavours here, definately a sipper in small doses, tastes much better than the aroma. Glad to have tried this - plus this is the first batch so has been in the bottle to mellow out.
