COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hardtail Lager is an Amber American Lager with a moderate caramel sweetness coming from the generous use of munich and caramel malts, and balanced with moderate use of European noble hops for flavor and bitterness. Hardtail is fermented cold and lagered for 30 day thus providing the active hardtail consumer a crisp full body drinkable beer, not too heavy, not too light, just right. I’ll have another.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white to light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is medium amber. Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, toasted grain), lightly hoppy (apricot). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation, metallic. I was prepared for something awful based on the label art, but it’s merely simplistic, sweet, and metallic...no glaring flaws to laugh at, other than the aforementioned godawful label design...the center of which looks like a 9-year-old’s unfinished drawing (and might actually be exactly that). If I was a biker I’d be embarrassed that this was marketed for my subculture.

12 oz bottle. Pours clear amber with really no head at all. Aroma of honey, bread, malt sweetness and a hint of hops. Pretty balanced overall. Sweet flavor and a dry finish. Just a slight hint of butter coming through.

@ South Denver Beer Fest 2013. Clear amberish-copper with a foamy white head. Nose is biscuity and with a wee note of toffee. Flavor is light and simple with biscuity caramalt sweetness and little else. Uncomplicated and easy to drink.

Clear bright amber color with ivory sheen. Medicinal caramel, herbal aromas. medium body with average co2. Buttery, spicy toasted caramel flavors with a mildly bitter finish--not so good

No real aroma to speak of...light caramel sweetness in the beginning with a light body. Light lacing. A session beer that does not stand out among amber beers.

Amber pour with a cream head. Nose is sweet malts, caramel, dough, fruits, not too appealing. Easy on the palate, overly sweet, cereal, faint hops, caramel, cereal finish.

UPDATED: SEP 17, 2012 Bottle. Pours a light amber with off-white head. Aroma has light caramel with a touch of grain. Flavor seems a bit rough for what this is....notes of caramel, toffee, earthy, just a hint of sweetness, maple with a peppery finish. Light-medium mouthfeel with high carbonation. I’d finish it.
