A pint from the cask. Tastes and smells malty and fruity, pours with a smooth and creamy head. A brown/amber colour. And overall a good Christmas beer.

Cask.Tried on a family pre Christmas meal when I wasn’t driving. Quite pleasant and slightly hoppy. A nice bitter but a Christmas ale- I dont think so.

[Cask at Copa, Reading] Deep amber-red with a moderate white head. Caramel, caramel, caramel & a bit of toffee - yep, it’s another Greene King bitter alright. There’s a hint of spice & a dusty, dirty, twiggy bitterness, but gernerally it’s rather sweet and very dull.

Cask @ JDW Elgin 171212
Reddish copper, clear, thin, dense white head, some lacing
Aroma of caramel malts, soft toffee, some yeast
Taste of caramel malts, light toasted malt, touch of toffee, quite yeasty, touch of dark fruits, odd herbal notes, cereals
Palate - medium body, fairly oily. Finish as main flavour, lingering bitter and bit astringent
Overall - Ordinary bitter with some odd flavours from the yeast. Wasn’t that great.

Half pint, hand pulled from cask at JDWs Angel. Tiny creamy, tan-coloured head. Deep dark amber body. Fine aroma of malts and resinous hops. Malt-fruity taste added by seasonal spices like ginger. Bittersweet ending. Likable (London, 25.11.2012).
