Not a big fan of Christmas beers and this is no exception decent looking with notes of cinammon and red fruits decent enough looking.

Cask pint at the Audley (a Taylor Walker pub) in Mayfair, London. Dark copper color, low creamy head. Malts and toffee in the aroma, hints of caramel. Malty flavour but not too sweet, also toffee and fruity notes (blackcurrants) and earthy hops, a hint of cinnamon. Very nice.

Cask at The New Board Inn, Hill Top Esh, Co. Durham, Ł3.30/pint. Pours ruby-brown with a smooth, cream-coloured head. The aroma is largely sweet and has toffee notes and a ripe, slightly chemical fruitiness that you could call banana. The taste is balanced bittersweet with biscuit, cereal and toffee flavours as well as a bread pudding finish. Decent.

Bottle. Pours clear dark reddish brown with medium white head. Aroma is intense malt, malt syrup, malt drops, biscuits, butter, butterscotch, grassy hops and faint hints of spruce. Taste of light to medium sweet, light bitter and faint acidic. Body is watery to light oily with soft carbonation. Finish is long and mostly sweet with lots of malty notes but also bread, biscuits, caramel, butterscotch, fudge, lemon, pale syrup and hints of ground coffee and cinnamon. Nice English ale with hints of Christmas.

Cask in a pub near Marble Arch. A brown bitter. Malty, quite a full flavour. Earthy hop. Doesn’t drink particularly easily, rather yeasty. Not the best bitter I’ve ever had.
