On cask at Bert’s Bar. Pours a dark amber with a decent head. The nose has biscuits and cream. The taste has more biscuits with just a hint of ginger on the end.The palate has a medium structure and the texture in the middle section is medium weighted and there’s a dry finish. Overall, decent enough but won’t have another.

Average head. Floery fragrance. Mild allround xmasbeer, suitable for food or discussions, party or self contemplation. Slightly sweet, slightly bitter, slightly spice, slightly smooky. But nothing special.

Cask, handpump at The Rock of Gibraltar, Enslow, Oxon, 12th December 2011 Pours dark chestnut, this is a touch spicy, its malty, some soft nuttiness, fruity. Whilst not totally my thing and I have to say it’s better than I expected but the pumpclip is annoying. A6 A3 T7 P3 Ov12 3.1

Lovely fruity peach smell with malt and caramel. Dark amber with a full frothy light tan head. Smooth fresh thin palate. Sweet malt start with a light bitter hop finish. Some spice, woody, light roast. Delicious and very enjoyable.

Cask at The Phoenix Twyford. Nice creamy head to this chestnut brown best bitter. Malty Jose with ripe vine fruit, very pleasant. Malt and fruit on taste with gentle bitterness making it fairly smooth an easy going. The GK yeast is notable in the taste. Finish has a slow growing bitterness with malt and fruit.
