Cask; Seasonal - Winter
Based on an old brewery recipe, this is s strong satisfying, full-flavoured winter ale. Challenger, Target, Goldings and cascade hops provide a subtle citric hop aroma, followed by a distinctive late bitterness on the palate.

The presence of Cascade in the ingredient list indicates that this isn’t likely to be a traditional Christmas ale. And it isn’t. The colour is pale amber. The aroma is modest, with some flowery, grassy hop. Clean and fresh on the palate, with grassy hop again. Not much malt character in evidence - this clearly uses pale malt. Slightly sweet, finishing with a touch of bitterness. This is a reasonable strong bitter but, when all is said and done, there’s not really that much going on. It’s not clear whether this is a new regular seasonal, or a one-off brewed for JDW - the company website is particularly useless for beer information.
