Cask, at Newark Beer Festival, May 2004. Notes recovered from a recently unearthed old notebook. Rather dark for a bitter - chestnut, with a reddish tinge. Very fruity aroma, almost volatile and estery - sort of like pear drops (but not in a bad way). Some roast malt in the flavour with a fair ration of tangy, slightly citric, hops. Medium bodied, smooth and very slightly sweet. An interesting and tasty beer. Seasonal and monthly beers from Regionals can be a little dull and uninspired but that is not the case here.

Cssk at Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem, Nottingham.
Hardy and Hanson’s June special, named in commemoration of the year when they first began brewing.
A reddish brown body, creamy head. Smooth, subtle fruitiness to it, kind of berry-ish. Very drinkable, not perhaps the best monthly special but still very encouraging.
